No object exchange or file transfer profiles?

So, it looks from the CTIA wrapup story like the V710 will only have the Bluetooth profiles for headsets, speakerphones, and dial-up networking. Which, I'm assuming, means one wouldn't be able to sync contacts with or transfer photos to a desktop over Bluetooth, correct?

And Motorola is restricting the Bluetooth functionality of the phone like this because....?

I just bought 2 V710s!

My local VZW store was just setting up the new V710 display when I walked in last night and I was able to purchase 2 V710 models from them. The phones are AWESOME! I was up until 3 a.m. playing with them. Bluetooth seems to be fully functional, I am able to print pictures directly to my bluetooth printer. Sound quality is very clear. The phone is a little bigger than I expected, but I think it is well worth the features it has. Go get one today, you will not be disappointed!

p.s. April Fools 😉

MY Proposal

Motorola just launched the V600 today. Their free headset offer expires on May 15, 2004. 45 days from today.

The free headset promotion for the V710 expires on July 10, 2004. So if we count back 45 days we arrive at Memorial Day weekend give or take a couple days.

So we can conclude, that although we have an n=1 (V600) that we will see this phone by Memorial Day 2004.

So now can you wait the 60 days to ge the superior phone? 🙄

Article talks to Trans Flash and mentions...

Motorola noted that the model V710, which also has integrated Bluetooth technology, is expected to be available in the second half of 2004 in North America.

More info please?

Am I the only one who has noticed its taking a long time to get the basics on this phone? If it is indeed sched'd to come out June/July than where are the Dimensions/weight/battery life stats??? Is this thing just another phantom (i.e. 810) that we wont see until 2005?

e-mail client support?

So, Moto has removed e-mail client support for the V710? This according to http://www.motorola.com/mot/doc/1/1111_MotDoc .pdf compared to the same document from last week, and they reduced the ram? What gives? Can anyone give us some infomation on what features this phone will have regarding Bluetooth and email? 😡

V710 comes with T-Flash slot

In the second fotobin picture in the "New pix" thread, I noticed that there was a SIM-card-sized dark-grey card lying to the phone's left. Considering the recent announcement of Motorola's T-Flash storage card format, and the fact that most SIM cards are not dark-grey, I think it's safe to assume that the V710 will COME WITH A T-FLASH SLOT! 😎

Price

Scrolling back the few pages we have accumulated, and when I mean we, I am referring to the desparate individuals we have become while waiting for this phone (present company included), there does not seem to be any mention of anticipated price. Any ideas folks. Also any idea on the price on the T-Flash cards.
Thanks

Whoah called local radioshack in passaic and he said in 3-4 days!!!!

🙂

I dont know if that person was crazy but i asked him if he knew when the release date of the v710 would be and he said that it should be 3-4 days from now. If you want call for yourself (973)472-5025 to see if another person gets the same answer. This would be so freakin cool. fingers crossed.

Motorola/Verizon Phone Releases

Verizon Wireless has several consecutive launches for new Motorola phones. The first launch can be expected the 3rd week of April. The V710 WILL NOT BE the first. Verizon has a few new phones that will be released back to back, so, make sure you know which one you want, or you may be dissatisfied when a week later a new phone is available.

Call your local VW store. Some locations have lists for the phones that you can be put on so a phone is held when released for you. They DO NOT have a specific date for the V710 but assured me that it would be no sooner than May. Sorry to dash anyone's hopes who have been anxiously awaiting.

While @ the VW store, I got to play with the test phone and I enjoyed it. To the man on the board who ...

Who is First??????

Which phone will be released first? Will the V810 still be released before the V710 or released at all? Someone said to call your Verizon store for the list of new phones coming in to be put on the reserve list, well, any time I call a VW store they all seem friendly until I ask them which phone is coming out next then they get real quiet, stern and robotic and say "we don't have that information."

Release date

The phone has to be released before July 10th 2004. Just in order for the free bluetooth giveaway that they are doing to work. As far as the memory car, that very well might not come out until Q3. Question is, how quickly will it come out? Next month or late june?

Some thoughts...

I have a sneaking suspicion that any good salesperson is going to tell you to "check back in a few days/weeks/months" for something. Especially if you drop by in person and might buy something else while you are there.. 😈

Given the insider's stories, it sounds like it could use a little bit of time in the cooker, so any notion that it'll be out within the next week or two is probably wrong. Remember, if the first ROM revision of the V710 really sucks, even if they fix it, the product's still doomed. The battery life is entirely under the control of the software, and it's not a particularly easy thing. In all likelyhood, the released version will need to have decent talk time.

I think the smart money is on June/July. Doesn...

More Feedback about the phone

After use for couple days. The phone can talk about 1 and half hour. stand by time is hard to say. after fully charge I can use about day and half. The speaker phone working very clear, it still have a lots of the software problem. The GET IT NOW haven't set up well,I only can download test game. also I can't send MMS. The bluetooth will turn off 60 seconds by itself even set to on. But when I connect to the Sony ericsson HBH-60 handfree, it 's very clear. Other thing I like is the voice digt dail, you can train the phone then you can dail any number by your voice!!! also can use your earpiece voice turn on the camera when the phone close. You can see everything on the front screen. (like the Samsung E715)
And you can take pix even close the...
