Motorola Droid

Well, after about 2 weeks of use, the biggest problem I have found with this phone is the absolutely terrible user's manual that is only available on line. I actually read instructions when learning a new device, but this manual is nearly worthless. Little by little I have been figuring out how to make things work, but basic stuff like how to delete apps or how to reply to a text message should be in the user's manual.

The phone is fine, but it is not at all intuitive unless you are under about 13 years old. One feature that Motorola admits does not work and is their mistake, is Voice Commands over a Bluetooth head set. The bluetooth works well, but you have to actually use the phone to either dial the number or say the voice command to....

i new and exciting problem is now happening on my droid

#54. the backup light on my keypad works approx. 40%of the time.


is anybody else havin this problem.

still have yet to go to verizon, will do soon, but am now concerned about them not replacing the phone do to the dents i put in it from repeatedly smashing the phone against the wall out of frustration

Anyone hear of an extended battery for the phone?

Is it worth getting calls via WIFI - why?

I knew it wouldn't take me long to come up with two other issues:

1. When I send a long text, the system automatically breaks it up and send it as several texts to the recipient. I have been told that they are coming in reverse order. Does anyone know why and what I can do about it?

2. I set it up to get a report when the text is delivered. I assume it is supposed to tell me when the text is opened. However, I just got a reply to one of my texts, but when I looked at the report, it just said "pending." Am I in error as to what the report is supposed to report?

Anyone know how to remove this feature? It is an invite only thing by google and I hate it! It only transcribes 5% of messages and probably only allows me to listen to 10% of messages. 👿

DROID FEED MY NEED!!!

well ive come to the conclusion that i actually do like this phone, i use it constantly but it is a damn shame that most of its features only work for undetermined amount of times for example i did my own little test.. under a wifi connection i tried playing a long video from youtube 20mins plus, i decided to see how many times the phone would stop the video and go blank forever, the results BAMO 10 out of ten times the phone stopped streaming and cut off forever. these are conclusive results as the phone has come to change my life in certain ways as a positive many other problems the phone has makes my life once again pre-historic cellphone days.

im finding as i point out the droids flaws, that everyone on this site only seems to lash out at the person pointing them out (me) i dont know if this is buyer resentment or what. ive decieded to go to verizon this week and see if the store will replace my phone if i complain about it's many faults, also another problem i found with the phone is

.46 there is no way to attach a sound to a picture message

.47 you cant even add a a pic to another pic.

37. there is no sent confirmation listed under text messaging details, the red envelope blows.

38. there are no live streaming tv sites everything is short clips, the voyager streamed live tv.

39. tv.com is horrible the best video site only plays episodes on csi and the price is right.

40. porn sites dont work like on a windows based computer makes you pay for mobileporn.

41.the phone takes way to long to send videos, my previous phone was faster at sending vids.

42.the phone updates itself without asking the user.

im sure ill find more problems as living with this mobile nightm...

I need to backup and edit the contacts of my morotola droid. If possible I want to sync it with my pc.

Any suggestions?

I recently found an app for a ends emulator and when I go to find Rome to put on my card it says they are not found. Or the download fails. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to move these files from my computer or can I find them over my phone? Is there a certain site that I have to get them from? Or am I just completely missing the obvious?

any idea whether droid will provide remote wipe and required password for accessing exchange server? Our company will not allow e-mail access w/o these features. Thanks for any insight!!!

Curious.. I love this phone. have it synced up with my outlook server. Does anyone know if it is possible to pull tasks out also along with calander and emails?

Does anyone know if they is a way to make the Droid go back to the home screen after completing a call? Right now it always goes back to the Call Log screen.

I every now and then bump a name and end up calling people back that I don't mean to.

Even if there is an app that would work too.

Why would i buy the phone from Verizon at $199 when I can buy at Dell for $119.99?

I have a new every two and it will only save me $20 off the dell price and going forward the new every 2 is $50 so I will be paying more buying from VZ, why?

Since there are no strings attached to the Dell offer other than a 2 year renewal how much do these guys really pay for the phones?

I have a FM transmitter that works with my iPod that allows me to play music in my car. I downloaded an app on my Droid called a FM Locator but I still think I am going to need something else to be able to play music from my phone in my car. If I find such product, will I be able to listen to streaming radio (iheartradio) or watch a video and have that audio come through the car's speakers as well?

I've had my Droid for 2 months now. So far so good! I've noticed a couple of things that do bug me about the Android software.

1. Lack of advanced Blue Tooth capability.
2. The volume on my Blue Tooth headset seems to be a lot lower then in was on my last cell phone (anyone else notice this?)
3. You can not delete just one phone number out of the call log. You have to delete them all.
4. The lock screen should have an option to use numbers instead of drawing a pattern.
5. Camera pictures still seem a little grainy when I the pictures and look at them on the computer (even after the update to 2.01.)
6. Bottom buttons are a little to sensitive. Sometimes I hit them while typing and get knocked out of an app.

I feel like I'm in a lone camp here. I got my Moto Droid on New Years and then I just got my wife the Droid Eris this past Saturday (using the free Eris deal).

The long of the short of it is, I kind of like the Eris over the Moto Droid for the following reasons:

- Eris is seemingly way lighter
- I do not like the physical keyboard on the Moto Droid (even though I liked physical keyboards in the past). I'm disappointed in I wonder how much of the weight issue is due to this keyboard?
- The Eris HTC UI interface is better (5 home screens vs 3 by default). I have to run Panda or some homescreen app on my Droid to make it the same. The Eris UI seems more 'refined' in a way.
