I just started having this problem today. No back light on the keyboard or the 4 buttons on the bottom of the home screen. I have shut the phone off repeatedly, battery pulls ...and nothing. Then, suddenly, the notificattion light came on and the 4 buttons lit up followed by the keyboard. Very strange. Going to take it back tomorrow.

you won't get it replaced if you physically abused the device.

As for the backlight, I get this issue every once and awhile, but only if I start typing something and stop and the keyboard dies

Its not a glitch at all, its a powersaving thing. if you press your power button in a dark room, they will light. why? theres a translucent dot on the screen near the power button that senses light and turns on the backlight if it doesn't get an adequate light sensor reading.

As with more than 90% of your problems, I don't have this problem with mine.

Having said that, I did have a similar problem in the past, but it turned out that I was causing it. It turns out that droid, just like the dare, has both a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor on the screen. If you hold the phone just right (or just wrong, depending on your perspective) you can trigger those sensors. When I stopped holding my droid with my left index finger on the screen, the problem stopped.

Arguably, its poor design, but it is nevertheless a predictable outcome, and easily avoidable. Its also the position used by many many phones, including models made by lg (dare, and I'm fairly certain voyager as well) for the same sensors, an...

I too have this problem sometimes, but i notice if i hit the power button real quick my buttons light back up. It don't happen all the time, just here in there. I have only had my phone though for 4 days... still a little iffy about all of it coming from a lg versa. (not to fond of the send and end keys... they drive me nuts when making a call.)

Considering how much you seem to hate this phone, have you considered buying an IPhone instead? Why put so much energy into denigrating a phone you hate instead of just getting a different one?

That's a question a lot of us have been asking 🙂 I don't think an iphone is the answer for him though ... It's not really any less complicated than the droid.
