BB Storm vs. Bold comparison article

Phonewreck.com is a fun site sometimes 😁
Doesn't slam either phone for no reason unlike some people here 😡

http://www.phonewreck.com/2008/12/03/in-depth-compar ... »

Article starts out like this:

Since the BlackBerry Storm just came out, we thought it’d be necessary to stack the Storm against its main rival on the enterprise side: the BlackBerry Bold. On the outlook, the functions of the device are similar, although the BlackBerry Storm has a vastly different way of navigating than its larger brother. Furthermore, they’re offered on different networks, meaning different chips, different speeds, and even a different customer base.
So what does each device have to boast about? Read on...

Service Indicator

🙂 Has anyone else experienced the service indicator fluctuating form having full bars to no bars. It happens often to me? I cannot confirm that it is affecting making or receiving calls though.

Landscape/Portrait Mode

Does anyone know if the sensitivity of the landscape to portrait mode can be adjusted? Any slight move of the phone changes it and of course with the lag it takes a couple seconds to switch back ☹️

Does it just need an update?

I'm loving this phone, but I'm really not impressed with the way it really lags. I'm not saying it should be fast like the iPhone, but certainly, a bit quicker would be nice.

Anyway, I was thinking of getting this phone and I was wondering if all this lag and bugs the OS has, are they software or hardware based?

What I mean is, Would some software updates and better code streamlining allow the phone to responde better or is it limited because the CPU and other components can't handle it?

I can deal with some sluggishness, thats not a problem, as I have the Moto Q9c (Sprint), but it looks like the Storm's OS is still in beta lol.

Sending pictures via MMS or email...

This might not be a problem, but does anyone know why pictures are turned side ways when you send them via MMS or email from your BB Storm?

RIM lowers third quarter outlook, touts Storm sales

RIM no doubt got a boost of confidence from AvianResearch's sales numbers a few days ago, but it looks to be in a bit of a gloomier mood today, as it has been forced to slightly lower its third quarter profit and revenue outlook. Apparently, instead of the previously forecast revenue of $2.95 to $3.10 billion,
From Engadget on Dec 3rd:

RIM now says it's expecting to rake in just $2.75 to $2.78 billion, with its adjusted earnings now expected to be 0.81 to $0.83 per share, and not $0.89 to $0.97 per share, as previously forecast. According to RIM's Jim Balsillie, the company is laying most of the blame on "product launch timing, general economic conditions and foreign exchange volatility," but it has nothing but good things to say about ...

Stay away from this POS

I work in the IT dept ( im on the helpdesk)
at my job, and I activated 2 of the storms on Monday, did a software update, 4.6-->4.7
on both phones, tiny improvement in the OS and touch screen response.
But by Thurday, both people took their Storms back to verizon and reactivated their old phones.
This phone seriously needs some bugs worked out before its ready for prime time.
Actual corporate users or people who buy this because they actually need to send an email will NOT like this phone.
People who want a cool looking phone and want something nice to play videos and pictures on thats also a phone, will like this phone.

I'm sorry to say Verizon, this is NOT AT ALL
the iPhone killer you said it would be a year ago. RIM phones are ty...

3G vs 1XEV

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

I see all these commercials promoting Verizon's 3G but my Storm says 1XEV. All my friends who have AT&T IPhone shows 3G as their network. Is something wrong with my phone or what?

Wow....so disappointed

I think I know the answer to this question already judging by the other posts in this forum, but am I the only person who tried this phone out and was completely disappointed with it? It feels like a Playskool toy. And the whole click touchscreen? Wow, so disappointed with that. I don't know if it was just the one I was trying, but the menu system was slow as hell. It would very literally take several seconds (sometimes up to at least five seconds) to move on.

Thanks, but no thanks RIM. I'll keep using my Curve.
