Anyone get one yet? Please share thoughts.

I stopped by my local VZW store this afternoon and tried out the demos they had available. They were all buggy. The accelerometer did not respond well, and in fact, one of the two demos wouldn't even show the web in portrait mode...only landscape. The OS was very slow and at times the virtual keyboard would not go away once it was activated. Things were getting so bad that I even shut down and restarted both of the demo units to see if that would help. I just couldn't believe that they would display two units that performed so badly on opening day.

I have read practically every review from all of the major websites, as well as many of the minor sites too (this one, phonearena, engadget, pcmag, crackberry, etc.) and some have said tha...

Please do not compare Apples to 'Berries

The BB Storm is not ment to be another iPhone clone. The touch screen is not going to behave like the iPhone, and I have yet to find a touch screen phone that is even close.

Just saying this so you are better prepared. Don't expect this to behave like your iPhone.

Thanks.

holster

Is anyone aware of any websites that sell a holster made specifically for this phone? Verizon does not carry one yet and I really need one.
Thanks.

Reviews of the Storm

It's amazing how this happens everytime a new phone comes out! So the Storm doesn't do a few things perfect! I could care less about the petty reviews so far. Most users today could give a rats ass about many of the features. What is important is that it makes calls first( lets not forget this). Yeah, the Iphone has probably a nicer touch screen with icons that are basically useless. The Storm has good call quality on a solid network! This is huge folks! The data network puts the AT&T data network to shame, this is huge folks! It's a blackberry, not a toy first. Why the early reviewers forget about the simple basics is one of the reasons I don't post anymore( or hardly anymore) on Howards or Phonescoop. Get real folks, the Storm w...

Real GPS

I just got my Storm today, and I already love it. But I was reading on another site that we could download a 3rd gps program to let us use the true GPS system?

Is this true, and if so anyone know a good one to use.

Sync Options / e-mail options

I have a blackberry for work, but have not had a personal one with VZW yet and am wondering about the e-mail / sync options. Naturally, if you're on a BES (Blackeberry Enterprise Server) than you have OTA (Over The Air) syncing for all e-mail, contacts, calendar, etc.

However, if you're not on a corporate BES and plan on using BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) - what are your options? Do you set-up your e-mail account with a Blackberry web-client? If so, is it Blackberry (RIM's) site, or Verizon's site (who owns the data). Also, does it have calendar or contacts, or must those be synced via a wired desktop connection?

What other non-BES e-mail / sync options are there?

Not impressed

Okay so I am very tight with my stores in my area. I stop the other day and they have a storm up and running(managers phone) I did not like it. I know you will all jump on me and say I am a freak (hence my name) but I swear I like my Curve way better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not like the touch screen. By the way they already have had to do a software update to fix issues. Now it is not that I do not like touch screens I also carry the DARE and I love that phone. I also did not like the browser on it, it was no faster than my Curve. I did like the weight of the phone. I was there for 2 hours playing with it as well as so were the reps. We were all hanging in the break room. COULD NOT STAND typing an E-mail on it, my list could go on. My store is ...

Quick Review - From Visiting Store Not Purchased

Just wanted to give a quick review here from just visiting the store at our local mall. I have a blackberry curve right now (ATT Work Phone) and a verizon cell. I was going to scrap the curve and my current phone to get the storm. But I'm considering waiting now for a few reasons.

Cons

Interface
- Seems slow and clunky. It's hard to explain until you have one in your hand but it seems slow to respond, you find yourself waiting between 1-5 seconds sometimes and don't try to do too many things at once, it only takes longer.
- Also moving from landscape to normal is very slow, at least a full 3 seconds before it render's itself again.

Pros

Buttons
- The new button feature where it gives you a response is actually very cool. It...

Wireless Synch and Push E-Mail

I have a Motorola Q and am finally ready to get rid of it. I was able to synch all of my contacts by wireless synch. Does the storm have this feature? Also, how is AOL push mail?

VZW WIN BACK

OK..so I stop at my local VZW store to see what the deal is. They won't tell how many they have and of course they cannot possibly know how many people will show up when they open the doors at 8:00.

I am a former VZW customer and due to the Storm I will come back (I was going to wait - but have read some more positive reviews).

When I get home tonight after visiting the VZW store, I have a postcard from VZW in the mail with all these great deals if I come back.

So, here goes:

Storm $149
Holster and Car Charger - $29.99
Shipping - $15.00

Activation - FREE
1 Year Agreement
$50 mail in rebate

They are saying delivery by noon on Saturday - but even if I get it Monday no biggie.

Now tell me - is that a great deal or what...

VZW return policy for holidays extended to 1/15/08

I don't see any reason why anybody wouldn't want to test drive it:

Holiday Returns: All purchases made between November 16 and December 15, 2008 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2009. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless' Return and Exchange policy, and Verizon Wireless' Test Drive program, still apply.

I will stick with my Curve!

This shoulda got the Bold!

After watching that review I gotta say I'm unimpressed. I don't want to be dealing with a laggy phone like that, i knew i would hate losing physical keys and this proves it!

Memory Card + Ring Tones

Like blackberrys on other carriers, are we going to be able to stick a memory card in and enjoy our self made ringtones? Or is verizon going to have this phone locked down too?
