Extended Warranty and/or insurance?

I was wondering what Cingular customers out there think of the relative merits of phone insurance from Cingular and the extended warranties available from retailers like Best Buy.

Have any of you actually used the coverage to replace a phone that was a lemon / lost / broken / stolen? Have you used the coverage to upgrade your phone, and if so did you do this openly or did you claim the phone was lost or broken?

Thanks,

Say what you will about GSM, CDMA is the best and it's all here in this article!

Hi guys I got the link to this article from some guy here at phonescoop.com I thought I'd share it with you, I know it's long, I was written by one of the guys who helped invent CDMA, very interesting Enjoy!

Anxio!

P.S. I think it's funny when they talk about Europe going to CDMA after all, because this is the only thechnology that supports our needs...

GSM in Destin, Florida??

Does anyone know if GSM up and running in Destin, FL?

If yes, is it Cingular's own towers?

I am using a Motorola V400 but my rate plan is still the old Nation Preferred that I got with my TDMA phone. (I have certain reasons not to switch yet.)

I was told since I still have the Nation Preferred Plan, I might get charged roaming in certain parts of the country if my phone goes to "Cingular Extend". I assume this means the phone is using a carrier that doesn't have an agreement with Cingular.

Does anyone know if I will be charged for roaming or not in Destin, FL?

Thanks.

V400 Questions

I have had my V400 for a couple for days and had two questions I hope someone can help me with.

1) I seem to have the voicemail symbol always on my screen (even when there is no voicemail). Is there anyway to get the symbol to go away?

2) My phone seems real slow to reacquire service signal. I went to the network menu but the only options there is automatic or selecting 850/1900 or 900/1800. There is no other option. Do I need to upgrade software or something?

Thanks

Nation PLUS Plans

I'm interested in getting a Nation PLUS Plan w/ a V600, but the phones are not on sale/rebated at all in my area (GA market). Anybody know how long the PLUS plans will be around? I'm scared they'll disappear before the phone becomes a good deal and I really want *that* phone and *that* plan. Any info would be appreciated.

I'm curious...

Why is Cingular not offered in Saginaw, Michigan? Anyone? We're definitely one of the top 10 markets in Michigan, yet Cingular is only offered in Detroit, Flint, and Grand Rapids? Interesting, you'd think a cell phone company would offer service where they have towers up...

Nokia 6230???

First of all when????

2) I have a question on the Nokia 6230,

I now have the Nokia 6200, which holds signal pretty well, but is very slow in finding signal, (even when power cycling it, it still takes time, or just doesn't find any)
[I used to have a Siemens S46 which was a brick, and doesn't have the voice quality and RF the 6200 has, but it found signal in seconds, it always looked for signal, if I walked outside (from indoors that had no service) it would get signal in 3 sec. as appose to my Nokia 6200, which could take 2-3 minutes, or even more..]

In short my question is, how is the rescan time on the Nokia 6230?? (Please compare it to some phones, including the above mentioned 6200 and S46)

Edit: also how does it compare r...

i have cingular in north carolina...we run off the 850/1900mhz band...if i were to buy a sony ericsson z600 that runs off the 900/1800/1900 band...how great would the 900 band as opposed to the 800 or 850 affect my reception in certain areas...my sony ericsson rep had one in my store the other day, and it seemed to work fine, but any thoughts on this would be appreciated...

Attention Cingular reps: Thoughts on WLNP?

My market will have the ability to port numbers beginning the 24th of this month. For those of you in larger markets that have been doing this since November, do you have any words of advice or comments? We have training at the RSO here in Lubbock on Wednesday. I look forward to all of those new activations!!! Thanks for your input!

v600 and MMS

I am in the Philadelphia area and just received the v600. I am trying to get MMS to work. I have talked to Cingular three times and the last person I talked to says that they do not know what the proper settings are and tickets have been opened.

Does anyone here 1) have it working 2) know what the proper settings are?

I have noticed that in the email setup, for example, that if all of the fields are not filled in, even if blank, then the phone does not consider email setup complete. Maybe the MMS not functioning has something like that wrong.

to sign up or not to sign up.

Hello all... I'm writing hoping to get alittle insight from some of you who are more wireless savvy than I am... my wife and I are considering signing on to a 2 year commitment with cingular on a national plan. Not crazy about the choice of phones ( only 2 gait phones ) and what the heck does 'gait " stand for anyway. cingular rep told me I should go with a gait phone to use the national plan because it is a tri mode phone, and that cingular would soon be switching completely over to gsm coverage. first of all, from looking at the coverage map, cingular appears to have just about the whole country covered... is the coverage that good? I don't plan to continue with at&t, so my only other real choice if I don't go with cingular would be ve...

Can Anyone Answer This Question?

The reason why I am asking, is because "Consumer Reports" didn't even have(Cingular) a rating for the New York area in it's Febuary 2004 issue.
I would like to hear from people who use this area carrier on a everyday basis. On Long island in both counties.
Thank you all.
