Verizon vs Competition

In the washington dc area, verison wireless is the best for coverage. Can anyone tell me which service would be next? I am thinking of leaving verizon due to their crapy phone selection and i am just plain tired of wondering when a new good attractive phone is coming out.

8900 recall

I just spoke to a Verizon Wireless rep who told me I should return my 8900, they are discontinuing it. She said they are replacing it with the LG 6000, and that it was unlikely they'd update the 8900 and get it back on the shelves. According to her, there are problems with Get It Now connectivity, mobile web and picture messaging on some phones.

This sucks for Verzion. They're back to 1 camera phone, with none coming out soon (except maybe the v810, which probably won't be out till April).

ATTN: Big Poppa

Quick question: I've been a verizon customer for about 18 months, my contract expires in 06/04... my business situation is such that I'm in dire need of a blackberry type device right away. Is there anyway that I can avoid having to pay full retail for a new phone if I get it b/f my contract expires? Don't know if it matters, but my monthly bill is about $150 to $200 -- always paid on time.

Appreciate your input.

New Phone Being released!

the Motorola V60s will be released Friday 12/26/2003!

Here are some of the features!

Tri-Mode
2-way Speaker phone
animated screensavers
EMS capable (Allows you to send and receive txt messages up to a 1000 character in length)

Will only be offered until inital inventory is depleted! Best bet would be is to call Telesales and order the phone!

Also note this phone does *NOT* support PTT, and will *NOT* be upgradable via software for PTT.

Now see what did I tell you.. We find out about new phones *ONE(1) WEEK* before they come out!!
So please people stop asking for release dates like 4-5 months before hand!

Non-PTT v60 for Verizon?

Happy Holidays!
I am getting ready to port my Sprint PCS number to Verizon. My goal is to cut the cord on my home wired phone and go completely wireless.

To accomplish this, I want to get one of the Cellsocket's (www.cellsocket.com) so that I can use my home phones via the cell. Currently, the Cellsocket is only available for Motorola and Nokia phones. It appears that the Nokia models that Verizon offers are not compatible with the Cellsocket so I'm looking at the Motorola phones instead.

The T720 and T730 work with the CellSocket but you lose the capability of using Call waiting and the ability to check your v-mail. The V60 is the only phone that has all the capabilities.

The problem is that Verizon will ONLY sell the phone to...

phone recommendation

I am gonna dump the T720 in January (good riddance to this POS), so I am looking for a new phone. While I enjoy the color screen and think the idea of a camera and Internet are great, what i really want in a phone is great reception, battery life, and a phone that is loud (I find the T720 to be very quiet).

If there is a phone that satisfies my three requests and has the extras (i.e. color, camera) then great but reception, battery life and loudness are the key.

What would be your recommendation?

Thanks so much!

V60P Accessories

Can anyone recommend a good accessory package for the V60P? I just got one and it only comes w/ an a/c charge. I need car charge, home cradle, extra-life battery etc, as well as:

I would like to get the data cable for using phone as modem on Express Networks. I would also like a cable to connect and sync contacts w/ my PC and Outlook. I currently own the TruSync software, can I continue using it w/ the V60P?

Any recommendations for a better contact mgr would be appreciated.

2 Questions

I would like to add my mother to my account. She lives in Wisconsin and I live in Minnesota.

Would I need to purchase the phone here and use a Minnesota area code or purchase the phone there and use a Wisconsin area code?

Also, What is the current software for the Audiovox 8600?

Thanks!

Verizon....best service worst phones!

Why does verizon insist on being behind the times on the actual handsets? All i want is a small phone that has good reception. What i really would like is the Audiovox 8600 non color but made by a reliable company. I will take the color and the camera and even the push to talk if they could just get w/ the times and get a good attractive phone! Does anyone have any idea if there are any extra small phones in the pipline???? Rolling Eyes

VX6000

I work for an agent in Ohio, and I have this customer that states that there is a cable that connects from the phone to a computer to transfer pictures. I ordered the mobile office kit, and he says that is not it. Does anyone know of such a device? I have not had any luck.

I know there was a similiar post a couple weeks back.

Can a Telus LG 4600 be made to work with Verizon?

Does anyone know if it is possible to make a Telus LG 4600 work on the Verizon Wireless network? What would have to be done? What features would or would not work?

8600 not a bad phone

I went to the VZ store and looked at the 8600. It looks cool and VZ had a phone to try. Of course with there crafty was, they were doing there sell pitch for the LG.

I didn't like how LG 4400b feels when holding the phone to your ear. Those buttons on the side are a bother!

The 8600 looks perfect. I tryed out every feature and there didn't seem to be a issue.
