Will Verizon ever offer phone with Bluetooth?

Dec 14, 2003, 12:24 PM
I'm looking to switch possibly but could use bluetooth for handsfree and computer syncing.

Anyone know if there will be a Bluetooth phone anytime soon? I need to get rid of nextel asap. Thanks.

If we do see a phone from Verizon with Bluetooth then you will not see it until middle of next year or later..

That's pretty much what I've been hearing, too. I spoke with a few people at Verizon and they all just mumble when I ask about Bluetooth.

As far as I am concerned, I have given up. I'm canceling one of my Verizon phones, giving the phone to my girlfriend (who still has Verizon service) and switching to T-Mobile. T-Mobile has kick-ass (meaning-reasonable) rates for data access, too!

Verizon actually already has a phone that is bluetooth capable. It's the Motorola 270c. It's an older phone but it works and is very reliable. Not the most attractive but more attractive than even some of the newer Verizon phones that I've seen. You might want to do some research on the 270c and see if you can get your hands on it.

I just picked up a sony ericsson t616 with cingular. We'll see how good the dual band GSM service is. I hear its better quality then T-Mobile b/c it utilizes the 800/850 and 1800 band and rollover is a plus. The bluetooth syncroniztion is amazing. I hope the service is close to Verizon. Bluetooth capabilities may outweigh slightly better service. Plus Cingular has better prices. Next few days should determine it.
