Automobile Web Surfing

I currently teather to my wife's t-mobile phone to achieve internet access when not near a wifi hotspot. When in the car between cities, I am rarely able to get a strong enough signal to surf the web while traveling. If I get an iPad with Verizon cellular, will I be able to access the Internet when traveling between cities in the car?

Heartbroken Customer

My mother and I have been valued verizon customers for around 10 years. Because of a pinched nerve and slipped disc, my lovely mother went into the verizon store on my behalf, after my verizon flip phone from the reagan administration finally died.

While she is from the baby boomer generation and not tech savvy, her only demand was for a phone that was not a smartphone. (I am philosophically opposed to them, but that is a personal preference) I should have never let my poor mother go alone, and especially not on my behalf!

When my mother asked the sales consultant at the Park Slope Verizon Store on 7th avenue, if the phone he offered her was a smartphone HE SAID IT WAS NOT A SMARTPHONE. Well, the kyocera brigadier THAT HE SOLD HER ...

verizon wireless is deceptive

On July 23, 2015 my Samsung Galaxy S4 is failing, so I go to the Dover, DE store and discuss with them the problem. My options are to get a $99.99 replacement or upgrade. So I look at the upgrades, the salesperson suggest the Note 4. I think about it and agree to buy this model. On August 14, I see that Samsung just released the Note 5, so I go back to the store, they say sorry, your out of your 14 day window. I say no one in the store told that a month later the new model is coming out. Sorry we don't know that. Of course all the new signage and literature is available, so how long does it take to prepare for a new model. This is not a fair company to deal with.

Verizon overcharging for data usage

Just curious if anyone else has had issues with Verizon's data charges. I had 2 devices on my plan - Galaxy S4 smartphones. I even took them to the Verizon store to make sure there were no apps loading/updating etc. in the background. I consistently had to buy extra gigabytes and ended up purchasing as much as 15g per month, which was puzzling since we did not use the phones much.

Recently I switched to AT&T and now have 7 devices on my plan, a Note 4, a Galaxy S5, 3 Samsung Tablets, another phone, and a mobile hotspot), and I am using less data than before.

We all use our tablets and phones daily. The wireless hotspot is also used daily at an office. It seems incredible that I am not using as much data as Verizon was charging me for ...

signal strength-dropping

As I drive to work, I usually call a friend in Tennessee. I'm in Arizona. Sometimes I have a great signal and all of a sudden the signal gets crummy or I may get dropped. I understand about switching cell sites but I have a question. If my signal to a tower is below a certain threshold I've herd CDMA or 4G will drop me for another caller with a better RSSI. Is that true?

Also, My one site at work is a old Alltel site that was 4G equipped but not enabled until after Verizon bought out Altels operation in Arizona. I was told that the 4g equipment was "first gen 4G" and the signal suffers due to the fact Verizon has not updated the hardware, just used what was there.

non-Verizon, non-CDMA phone w/LTE 700/1700?

I have a Galaxy S5, unlocked, not CDMA but with 4G LTE Bands 13 (700mHz) and 4 (1700).
Can I use this phone with Verizon (4G LTE only)?
Thanks!

PLEASE say it ain't so Verizon!

I spoke to a VZW retail store Manager this afternoon. He stated that a Samsung representive confirmed S6 Edge arrival in April, but ONLY COLORS offered in BLACK OR WHITE colors only. So I say again, please say it is not so! I hate to buy a full retail phone elsewhere or go to another carrier, but after hearing other buzz and looking at pics, I am going to have an Emerald Green Edge color or bust. 🙄 Would anyone else have more info or thoughts? I just refuse to believe that VZW would offer a new beautiful piece of techology in absolute BORING colors.

I'm being stalked by Verizon

In the 10+ years I have been with Verizon I have never recieved any correspondence with regards to advertising. All of a sudden (3 times within a month) I've received 2 text and an e-mail telling me I qualify for an upgrade to a new smartphone.
Hmmmm.... could it be that they are trying to get me off my unlimited data plan? NEVER!!!!!

While the text did not advise I would lose my unlimited data if I upgraded I was really impressed they let me know about the $30 upgrade fee. But alas, none of it will happen. I am not a data hog but I take comfort in unlimited..... 😉

LG Cosmos 3 question, buying aftermarket? Ebay?

Hello all...so I walked into a VZW store (corporate) and wanted to buy a new Cosmos 3 for my girlfriend. Her's is dying, keyboard not functioning properly, etc. It's pretty old.

Anyway, her kids (she's on a family plan) used all the upgrades. She's got close to 2 years left before she can get an upgrade deal. The only option was to buy a brand new Cosmos 3...full retail...$200!!!

So I was thinking of buying one -- new -- in the aftermarket, primarily via ebay. Is this a good idea? If so, how can I assure that I buy the phone, look to activate it with Verizon, keeping her same/old phone number, and that it will work?

Do I have any options here? I would love to buy her a new Cosmos 3 for Christmas, but I can't really see spending $200...
