signal strength-dropping

As I drive to work, I usually call a friend in Tennessee. I'm in Arizona. Sometimes I have a great signal and all of a sudden the signal gets crummy or I may get dropped. I understand about switching cell sites but I have a question. If my signal to a tower is below a certain threshold I've herd CDMA or 4G will drop me for another caller with a better RSSI. Is that true?

Also, My one site at work is a old Alltel site that was 4G equipped but not enabled until after Verizon bought out Altels operation in Arizona. I was told that the 4g equipment was "first gen 4G" and the signal suffers due to the fact Verizon has not updated the hardware, just used what was there.

PLEASE say it ain't so Verizon!

I spoke to a VZW retail store Manager this afternoon. He stated that a Samsung representive confirmed S6 Edge arrival in April, but ONLY COLORS offered in BLACK OR WHITE colors only. So I say again, please say it is not so! I hate to buy a full retail phone elsewhere or go to another carrier, but after hearing other buzz and looking at pics, I am going to have an Emerald Green Edge color or bust. Rolling Eyes Would anyone else have more info or thoughts? I just refuse to believe that VZW would offer a new beautiful piece of techology in absolute BORING colors.

I'm being stalked by Verizon

In the 10+ years I have been with Verizon I have never recieved any correspondence with regards to advertising. All of a sudden (3 times within a month) I've received 2 text and an e-mail telling me I qualify for an upgrade to a new smartphone.
Hmmmm.... could it be that they are trying to get me off my unlimited data plan? NEVER!!!!!

While the text did not advise I would lose my unlimited data if I upgraded I was really impressed they let me know about the $30 upgrade fee. But alas, none of it will happen. I am not a data hog but I take comfort in unlimited..... Wink

LG Cosmos 3 question, buying aftermarket? Ebay?

Hello I walked into a VZW store (corporate) and wanted to buy a new Cosmos 3 for my girlfriend. Her's is dying, keyboard not functioning properly, etc. It's pretty old.

Anyway, her kids (she's on a family plan) used all the upgrades. She's got close to 2 years left before she can get an upgrade deal. The only option was to buy a brand new Cosmos 3...full retail...$200!!!

So I was thinking of buying one -- new -- in the aftermarket, primarily via ebay. Is this a good idea? If so, how can I assure that I buy the phone, look to activate it with Verizon, keeping her same/old phone number, and that it will work?

Do I have any options here? I would love to buy her a new Cosmos 3 for Christmas, but I can't really see spending $200...

New Upcoming Verizon Phones 2015

These new upcoming Verizon phones 2015 are smartphones from various companies such as Samsung and Motorola also Nokia. Unlike, Sprint and T-Mobile they mostly have to similar smartphones, for example if we take new upcoming Sprint phones in 2015 we obviously notice that they have phones coming out from single community which is Nokia. Anyway, these new upcoming Verizon phones in 2015 are somehow high-range smartphones such as Nokia Lumia 735 and Nexus 6 also Motorola Droid Turbo and many others .. Of course a community that big such as Verizon won’t give its clients and consumers low quality smartphones and this is one of the most Verizon’s priorities. These new Verizon phones coming out in 2015 would be covered in this article just righ...

Switched Sim Card and activated phone myself. Bad Idea?

I had a Droid Razr and got hold of a Droid Razr Maxx. I work for ATT and reasoned that simply switching SIM cards while having phones off would activate the MAXX.
I did the swap carefully and yes now 12 hrs later the MAXX is running beautifully and with no hiccups.
My wife seems to think I have to inform Verizon of the switch as it could cause trouble if I dont. I dont see the need really so that is my question? Does V really need to know and why?

Best older phone for 4G Hotspot

I am looking for a good phone to use as my hotspot. I am having trouble with a Samsung Charge staying connected it shows everything is good but has to often be restarted. I know the charge is junk but it says plugged in most of the time so I didn't care about the battery life. I have an old grandfathered data plan and this is my only way of internet as Cable or DSL is not in my area just Hughes Net and other Sat providers. I am like a mile away from any internet. I even actually pay the extra money for the unlimited hotspot and don't ever care to use a 3rd party app to do that. I just want to know the best older phone to use that will work good for the hotspot feature. Any help would be great.

Why no "Full Retail" deals?

I was hoping to find a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal on a Samsung Galaxy S5, but the only ones out there are with a new contract. I'm grandfathered in with unlimited data, so I'm not touching my contract or my upgrade. My next phone will be full retail. All S5's that I can find for Verizon are still $599 or higher. Why no holliday discount? Sad
