Re: WOW! I bet no other carrier can beat that at the same price point...
I don't doubt that. I've only personally known two people; however, by the same token I've only ever known a few people that have bothered to make the modifications necessary to enable the tethering. It follows then that the actual turnover rate on catching perpetraitors isn't particularly bad. Of course, that's my experience and I've only been in it for 5 years. You may know many more people who've attempted those modifications than I do.
Re: FCC worthless
The funny part is that Tom Wheeler, now the FCC chairman, used to be the head lobbyist for ATT.... Irony.
Re: WOW! I bet no other carrier can beat that at the same price point...
IF you can get away with it. They have a system in place that attempts to identify those subscribers that are utilizing the hotspot on the unlimited plans. If the system identifies you then you will get an automated message warning you that your data plan could be forfeit if you continue the practice. Of course, I don't know what variables it uses to identify perpetraitors, but I imagine there is loop hole to be exploited ;-) ...
Re: Not Similar
Those of you who are reps for ATT/Verizon... God have mercy on your souls, cause you're going to have a fun time explaining this disparity in a positive light once these programs are more widely known.
Re: keep expanding
It's exciting to see Sprint rebuild. Even though it'll take more time, it would almost be worth it for a lot of people to go over to them just to lock in that data for when Sprint's network vision is complete. Maybe with Softbank backing them and a little help, the execution will be successful.
Re: NYC is a densely populatex market.
Aj, you seem a nice guy; however, I think it's a bit unfair to claim that degrees necessarily define education. For example, many greats like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, and more never made it through college before becoming successful. (Although, I believe Gates went back to school later in life.) Instead, they studied hard outside of school to learn about the things that interested them. I agree that it isn't fair to name-call Sprint and many phonescoop ...
Re: Not the biggest ,but still great
I does sound neat. I really like the idea of windows 8 on a 4.7. Personally, I just like that size overall as it fits me well, and I think windows fans would really like to see windows offer more devices this size. In fact, if there were just a little bit more pushing this phone- a 1.5GHz snapdragon 600 or higher, 720x1280 or better, and maybe an additional 512MB of RAM. I'd be stoked, but that's just me. ...
Re: Mobile Share works as an individual plan
Hmmm. Because of the way the employer/association discounts apply to their mobile share plans, I can't help but wonder if the 2 GB will really prove beneficial to the majority of IRUs..
And thank you, whatwhatjbdo, for looking that up.
Re: Mobile Share works as an individual plan
Has anyone seen the per-line cost for these plans? For example, the current 4GB plan is 70.00 and then 40.00 for each smartphone.
I wonder...
I wonder what he will receive as compensation. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets half the appropriate penalty just because of this... Certainly a little compensation for the breach may be in order, but I bet he gets way more than he deserves. Reminds me of a case I read about once where an individual was robbing a home and got locked in the garage somehow whilst trying to escape. He was trapped there for 6 days, until ...
Re: SMS Overages???
I work for ATT and most customers that text have unlimited messaging; however, there is a surprising number that don't have any messaging feature in order to cut costs on their bill. These people often use this or other free services to do their messaging. They usually save $20/$30 per month on our plans.
Re: Force To Reckon With.
Thank you JJinNYC, well put. High hopes for Sprint. Perhaps this new leadership will bring it to the table.
Re: 2007 called...
Let's take a poll :) haha. I'm an entry-level employee, I'm in my sixth year of college, I have an one-x, and I frequently email newsletters, memos, bulletins, sales/stocks information, and I frequently use common apps like ifunny, facebook, pinterest, amazon, and a few others as well as downloading 2-10MB ROMs on a regular basis throughout a given month (while not on wi-fi) and I average about 350 MBs per month. Also, I think it'd be much ...
Re: It's less of an upgrade program
I've been wondering if maybe they were going to attempt to change models all together, just in phases. Clearly they want to push people towards this NEXT program since they've extended the upgrade period from 20 months to 24. I wonder if the overarching goal is to shepherd people towards the monthly installments and then remove the subsidy. Sort of like a step-by-step conversion of the charge model. It would be essentially the same thing T-Mobile ...
Re: Here we go again.
Refarming that would take a bit of time though, which would leave many rural customers without service for an extended period. I'm in Arkansas and many people live in lightly populated areas and are heavily wooded, so they rely on those EDGE towers and the lower frequencies that ATT and Verizon incorporate.
Re: Alarming this must be
Sprint (and T-Mobile) in my area, which is central and southwest Arkansas, have "okay" coverage; however, few people sign simply because of building penetration. There is absolutely no service for these two carriers once you are inside a building for every bit of the 200 mile diameter I frequent. Most of the consumers I know personally who sign up with these two are under educated about other carriers and/or are lower-middle pay, unable to afford service with Verizon ...
Re: Looks nice...
That sounds like a really beast camera.. I 'd like to see it
Re: Apple's Argument
Amen.
Besides, I would think the logical part of subsidizing with a manufacturer is acknowledging that you run the risk of that manufacturer failing... eg. AT&T should acknowledge that they took a risk in subsidized investments, and in this case there was a fall through on the product and they will suffer some losses. And really, we all kind of expect the 4S to be at the 4's price point by the end of fall anyway, so it's not as ...
Re: I thought for a moment
Haha, were I bound to iphone Cydia probably would be my preference :)
Re: Apple
I actually agree wholeheartedly with Huguet. Customer DO know where they can buy their favorite apps...
The GooglePlay Store. :)
Ah.. Couldn't resist the opportunity.
Happy, happy, happy.
Those Clear shareholders ought to be pretty stoked. Made four times the original offer and got bought out of a failing investment at the same time. Sweet deal if you ask me. :)
Re: Since February
Everytime I see this guy on here, his statements are antagonistic. I see his name, then in my mind I see a little kid bullying other kids, trying to take their candy. Because he is lacking in intelligence he fails; therefore, he resorts to, "I'm gonna push you down and call you names!"
I personally am annoyed by this type of immaturity. These forums are here to help us gather information and share knowledge with each other for ...
Re: As if
This should be good. I wonder, what with the buy from Softbank, Sprint ought to have a pretty good lump of capital by the time the auction comes, eh? Doesn't look good for Dish again. Mayber Dish can injunction them to death.
Re: Dude
No doubt. lol
Now that you mention it, I do recall seeing a lot of the RAZRs with cracked screens. I wonder what kind of glass they used at the time; probably not Guerilla Glass 2, eh?
If your theory is true, I'm locking my wife outside. If she comes within a few feet of a cellphone, you might as well get ready to do a master reset and call your nearest warranty center. haha She has terrible luck.
Re: Dude
I remember when that RAZR came out; I was still in highschool. Everyone and their grandmother was getting one of those bad boys. In fact, I work for ATT now and I still see accounts that are actively using one of them. If a cellphone lasts 8+ years, that's a bad mother. Just sayin. And I remember everywhere you went, malls, thrift shops, everywhere you saw cases of every style for them. I'd like to see the national ...
Re: Dude
I love quality debate :)
Re: NSA
Furthermore, if you are of the mindset that these companies bend their knee to the government in this way, what is to say that the Washington Post would not retract portions of the story at the government's request as well? Perhaps the government wanted it to sound not-so-bad as it really was and decided to pressure higher-ups in the Post to retract parts of the statement. Just a thought.
Re: Ridiculous
Maybe there will be a fanny pack accessory for it, so you won't have to try and get big enough pockets JK
Re: Market Penetration
You have a good point. I wonder how soon we'll see more from NEC, and I wonder how many BB-fallouts will be aware that the Terrain is available and comparable to the BB experience (as far as physical function). I guess I'll just have to look for the sales numbers :)
Re: Huge
Heck yeah, make it touchscreen and add in a little software.... I'm seeing a multi-million dollar investment haha... Hell, I may buy one from you :) jk jk jk jk
Re: And it also
And the old-but-not-quite-so-old and wish-we-were-a-bit-more-advanced-but-not-real ly folks loved the Pantech Ease. I had a lot of early 50s folks who were into that bad boy.
Market Penetration
So.. the article says that NEC was looking to make a comeback in the U.S., but I can't honestly believe that if the first device they put out is a ruggedized device like this one... I mean, sure there's definately a market for it, but it seems like a performance-based device with an intensified andoid experience would have a greater market penetration... I suppose it would take more money, more time, and more risk... but I just don't think ...
Re: Useless
Riot Act makes a very good point; however, to prior replies, I have to wonder if we can really call this a "free" service. I'm assuming that ATT didn't cut their profit margins in order to accomodate consumers, especially if even those consumers who aren't ATT's own customers can equally benefit from the endeavor. Money has to come from somewhere. Maybe part of that administration fee, eh? jk
Re: Useless
Granted, it is New York and there are many pedestrians who don't have or don't always use their vehicles; however, as you both said, it is New York. If you leave that phone there for 30 seconds it will likely dissappear and no one in New York (or anywhere these days) has time to stand at a pole for 30 minutes to charge.
Re: just called sprint
I really don't think that the responders or Suciobeats intended to be antagonistic towards you, and I honestly think I myself excel in reading. More likely, if you review our posts, you'll find that we never specified you, but instead identified a type of customer that calls and makes senseless complaints. Reviewing our posts, you'll find that we never identified you specifically as the "complaintive customer," and if, indeed, you plan to upgrade to the device you ...
Re: Wow!
I'm with T-bone on this one. Because of the technology they use to push the alerts, the alerts will not arrive if the device is in use or has a running data session (including background data being used by running apps, which many users may have going for extended periods, hours or even a day). Because of this, not only are the notifications a "duh" in the first place, but they often arrive heavily delayed.
If anything, it ...
Re: just called sprint
I love it when they call with a similar argument:
"I've been with you for X years and you all should give me X phone 'cause I deserve it."
My response:
"I've bought my gas from the same company for 10 years and they've never paid a single time on my car."
As though cell phone service is an entitlement program. If you ask for something outside of your wireless agreement, then you should acknowledge that you are not entitled to it. ...
Re: REALLY
Well said.
Re: Wow
Not at all to say that Dish isn't doing what is best for Dish, but when I animate this scenario in my mind all I see is a munchkin in a Dish t-shirt kicking a Sprint guy in the nads. Just makes me smile.
Re: What
You just became my hero.
I believe Apple makes a good product, but not the legendary, best, most amazing product they claim to make.
