It should. You can ask Metro to give you the SIM lock code if you've had it like 6 months or a year. I don't remember how long exactly you have to have it before they'll unlock it free of charge.

Apple charges like $650 retail for their phones, but are too cheap to spend $2 extra (if even that) putting in gaskets in their phones to make them water proof. Other makers that make sub $200 phones can do it, but not Apple. Their phones are all sealed up with non-removable batteries or back covers, but they're too cheap to add that little extra bit of protection for your phone. Maybe when the iPhone 17 comes ...

The economy is doing great! The media will spin it that the more companies lay off, the better they are doing. The more companies cut their staff, the better the economy is and the higher Wall Street stocks will go. The stock market hasn't gone up at all since 2009 from great earnings or record output. It's been going up due to the government dumping tens of billions of dollars into it each month.

Motorola used to be the big dog, along with Nokia back in the day. Now Nokia is no longer and Motorola has one foot in the grave too. Google really f'd up Moto when they took it over. They raided their patents like some pirates and then sold the scraps to wolves. Motorola needs to come out with something innovative, but I doubt that will happen now that it's not an independent company. Stop ...

I don't know what you're talking about, but I never said anything about proportionally charged. I said the customers affected should be given the fine money instead of the government getting it all. And there are other companies that have had 911 issues. US Cellular had a 911 issue a couple of years back where people in one city dialing 911 reached some other city's 911 that was like 200 miles away. And there were ...

Who cares if it's mandated by the FCC? Doesn't mean they should get all the fine money. The people affected by the outage don't get anything as a result and it all goes to the government coffers. And you don't think other network carriers have outages as well? To say T-Mobile sucks because their 911 went out for 3 hours is a bit naive.

Yeah, that's pretty over the top. I'd rather see the residents of the area affected by the outage paid instead of the government. The government will just blow it on something stupid. Pay those affected. :)

This is an example of consumers NOT determining what they want. I know in economics class they pound into everyone's head that corporations listen to their customers as demand, but they really don't. Just like this phone. Everyone wished Samsung kept removable batteries and SD cards, but they chose to become an Apple clone. Now everyone is saying they're "okay with it" because they have no choice. Samsung didn't listen to their customers. ...

Using CDMA in the US pretty much made us a little island with this proprietary technology, while the rest of the world had GSM. Sprint are the a-holes that got CDMA started in the US, followed by Verizon. It's taken 15 years to catch up and be on a worldwide standard. I wouldn't of had such a problem with CDMA if these US carriers would have used RIM cards like they do in Asia where you ...

Why not? Granted it's not a $700 phone like 90% of the other phones out there, it's $180. Maybe that's why someone would buy it. It just goes to show how much they markup these latest and greatest phones when they retail them for $700 or more. So why would you not buy it? What's wrong with it?

Mar 7, 2015, 1:25 PM

Sprint is extending their offer of one of the biggest rip offs in the industry-phone insurance, in my opinion. It used to be a decent deal like 8 years ago. They had only a $50 deductible and cost around $5 a month. They kept upping their prices and deductibles and now it's a total joke. You pay $12 a month and a $200 deductible for a refurbished (used) POS phone that 7 times out of ...

It's part of their design. They actually want high turnover for whatever reason. Maybe they don't have to contribute to 401k or pensions, so they think that'll save them money. I read somewhere that it costs a company about $5,000 per person to advertise, test, interview, hire, fill out paperwork, and train a new hire. Apparently the company has decided that a revolving door with reps lasting about 9 months before quitting and being replaced ...

It's six of one, half dozen of the other. You pay off your phone and it'll run about $300 to $400 dollars. You pay off your break fee and you'll pay $350. 1. Any company that makes their customers wait 1 to 3 hours for anything doesn't deserve to be in business. 2. They don't care what you think. Well I would predict that USCC gets bought out, but I don't think any of the big carriers are interested in them at this point. The company is a textbook example about how a company went from being a great customer service, employee satisfaction company to pure garbage in just a matter of months. The company is too interested in their stock price and Wall Street to care about anything else and their stock performance shows it. ...

Several execs dumped their stock in May (http://seekingalpha.com/article/2210243-unit ed-states-cellular-3-different-insiders-have- sold-shares-this-month) They are dumping stock because they have no confidence in the company they run. You nailed it. The USS Cellular struck an iceberg back in July/Aug '13 and has been sinking ever since. They implemented a billing system that was supposedly in development for around 5 years, but it must have been developed by 3rd graders as a class project. What a joke. That system still crashes constantly and all the other side programs tied to it crash too like MyAccount and Rewards Mgt Tool, *228, and everything else. And instead ...

To me it seems they are coming apart at the seams and it really went into effect when that garbage TOPS launched untested. The company was not doing great before, but now it's coming apart as a result of all the internal errors of this system as well as how slow it runs when using it. Transactions that took 10 minutes in the old system can now take up to an hour. Now customers wait 2 ...

Not sure why nobody has talked about USCC for a while now. It's just as horrible as you might imagine. You thinking USCC being around 3-5 years from now? I'd say more likely 3-5 months at best! I think you mean commission not commotion right? I can't really say how much you'll make. Are you full or part time? Depends on how much traffic is in your store. I know the pay is tiered. If you make 0 to like 60% of your quota, you get $X per add. Renewals you get $8, so that's easy. But the tiered thing is hard to follow. I think if you ...

Seems like US Cellular is in constant, perpetual damage control. All you hear is "we're sorry this happened" or "we're sorry that happened." The company has gone so far downhill in the past 5 years. Now all they're interested in is the bottom line, squeezing every last penny they can get out of everything. All the tools are old, worn out and dilapidated. They have become the Dollar General of the cell industry-just plain junk. ...

I think the fine print in the contract says something to the effect "prices/plans subject to change without notice" is their way out of any lawsuit. Buyout?
Aug 21, 2013, 11:51 PM

Does anything think US Cellular is ripe for a buyout? Their flop of a billing system sure seems like that's where it's all leading to. I think they expected the billing system to save the company, but turns out it's destroying the company. I'm thinking their best bet is to sell now before they lose all their customers. Anyone else?

US Cellular is writing their own obituary. They did some over the air update that really messed up Samsung smart phones-especially GS3s. A huge amount of their customers can't get signal now-a big strike one. Second, they shut down their computer system to switch to a new one. It was down for like 4 days entirely. Third, the new billing system doesn't work and they had to shut down their system for another 3 ...

You mean Belief Project=Fail We'll have to see if this Meyers guy is as big of an idiot as the last prez. Putting contracts back in place sure isn't going to help matters. It's called deceit. You lead your employees with lies and deceit and don't allow for any questioning of the official corporate line. If corporate says jump, you are to ask "how high?"
