He's just envious that his carrier won't be supported first by the Pre.
Re: Makes perfect sense
I think the marriage betw. Pre & Sprint couldn't be better. Especially since Sprint's 3G network was rated best by Gizmodo.
Go Sprint!
Re: Stay away from Palm, for the love of God
Just get provider insurance.
Re: Actual price
As a long-time VZN big-plan subscriber, last week I made the jump to Sprint, where I bought the 755p for $350, which is about $250 more than the OP's price. If I decide to keep the 755p on Sprint, then in 2 months, I'll net-net in out-of-pocket total costs (for svc. + equip.) between VZN and Sprint. In the remaining 22 months on my contract afterwards, I'll be fiscally SprintSpeed(tm) ahead vs. VZN.
Re: Enlighten me-- Centro vs. 755p
Thinking aloud, a larger size benefits in these ways so far:
1) Easier to hold
2) Easier to type
2) Easier to read and view
That's about it. Yet I still don't see where the $150 cost premium of the 755p goes. Thoughts?
Enlighten me-- Centro vs. 755p
Everything I've been reading about the Centro suggests, technically, it might actually be slightly superior to the 755p.
Can someone validate this for me?
If this is indeed true, then enlighten me as to why people keep saying the Centro will *not* appeal to the "nerdy" or the more "technically-savvy." I can see how marketing spins the Centro as more "chic" vs. the 755p. But the nerds would clearly see the Centro's price/value ratio being significantly superior to the ...
Re: Q v. 700w?
I hate to bust your bubble, but the Treo 700p is a completely different animal vs. the 700w.
700p - a design exercise in simplicity and usability, adequate functionality. Far easier to use one-handed than the W. I'll dare say this isn't even a subjective statement, having come from 6 700w's...
700w - seemingly chockful of functionality, questionable usability and stability, even after patches.
Re: 700w as wireless modem w data plan
Other than the USB cable that came with your phone to plug into your computer, or possibly the Bluetooth connection you've set up via Activesync with your computer, the only thing you need is PDANet. And that's it, quite simple.
In fact, PDANet itself is so easy and simple to use, you can be up and running in a matter of minutes, if not seconds!
I've been a long-time PDANet user, couldn't be happier.
Re: I need to address the morons here...
How can you call the phone "solid" when, uh, it needs a nightly reset?
And this isn't about one problem-- even a *hard reset* on this model doesn't fix its ailments.
I'm on my 6th replacement which will soon find a happier owner via Ebay.
Although it's only been 4 days, something tells me my new 700p won't force me to spend 30+ hours on the phone with VZW DTS and Palm Support, hacking away at registry entries, deleting and managing rapi.dll ...
Re: Help !700 freezes too often!!!
I was actually fortuitous enough for VZW to bless me with my *sixth* 700W replacement. But it's OK-- I'm dumping this sucker on Ebay (without putting any usage minutes on it) and have had 4 happy days with my new Treo 700p!
Methinks we should rally up a class-action lawsuit somehow. There's too many stories of us getting burned purty badly by VZW or Palm or some convoluted legal collaboration between them.
Before the 700W, I owned a 600. ...
Re: Help !700 freezes too often!!!
VZW didn't blow it up... did they? I thought it was a design flaw from Palm, or something to that effect.
Re: I have a 700w and want palm os instead
I'll admit, after 4 days of 700P ownership, I don't miss the 6 months I had the 700W.
Re: Q v. 700w?
Consider the 700p vs. the 700w.
There's list of complaints is too extensive for the 700w.
Re: Treo700W 1.10 Update Defective
Sad how the new ones still don't seem to have any updates on them (just received mine today, and still shows "TREO700W-1.02-VZW"...)
Re: Problems with the TREO 700W
"I'd be willing to bet that most people do not switch back and forth between calls frequently (if ever)..."
I think you'd be surprised at how many people actually do perceive this usability issue as genuine. As a potentially heavy user (traveling consultant) of my problematic 700W (even the 600 was more usable than my 700W so far), I find this feature a key one that's lacking.
Anybody who uses this phone with customer service being a huge element in ...
