Problems with the TREO 700W

I am on my third phone right now and need another, here are my problems.

1. When I try to turn on the screen by hitting the red phone button nothing happens. After 2 phones and multiple calls to Verizon with nothing helpful other (other then their lame hard and soft resets) I was able to find a fix on one of the forums.

2. I am on a call, another call comes in, I would like to hang up on the first call, it hangs up on both. I am on a call another call comes in, I swap, talk then swap back with new caller hanging up, both calls are still active and I am getting charged double! On a call, new call comes in, swap to to, want to hang up on new call and it hangs up on both! No work around, and I have found out that this is a problem ...

Your issues with this phone equal's "everyone will hate it" in your mind? Wow, the arrogance is astounding!

Ok, so I'm giving you a hard time, but I couldn't help but to notice your talking about having a hard time getting through to data support yet your problems have nothing to do with data? Maybe that's a problem as well?

Anywho, back to the do not get this phone stuff, I'd be willing to bet that most people do not switch back and forth between calls frequently (if ever) rather they say "hey, I have another call coming in, I'll talk to you later" and disconnect that call and pickup the other making your main complaint about why no one should get this phone moot.

my two cents...and no, I'm not a VZW employee or anything, I just l...

"I'd be willing to bet that most people do not switch back and forth between calls frequently (if ever)..."

I think you'd be surprised at how many people actually do perceive this usability issue as genuine. As a potentially heavy user (traveling consultant) of my problematic 700W (even the 600 was more usable than my 700W so far), I find this feature a key one that's lacking.

Anybody who uses this phone with customer service being a huge element in their profession needs this feature.

hmm, not for me thus far, when a call comes in I get off the one I'm on and pickup the new one...For me the ability for it to function as a phone first is my primary concern and having tried the 600, 650 and now the 700 the 700 is the first one that I have found works well as a phone, the others were a joke (heavily limited reception/range, dropped calls constantly etc).

Ok, I take this back 🤭

I am now having the same problem but I guess I didn't understand the problem entirely until it happened to me...Another call comes in while on a call and if I choose ignore it drops both calls - that sucks!

Oh well.

100% Agree with this. The 700w is a great phone.

I second the warning to NOT GET THIS PHONE. The battery life is awful (well less than a day if you use EMail in any serious way - the manual says expect 4-6 hours!!) The OS hangs several times a day in lots of different ways including the impenetrable coma after sleeping. A fair amount of WM5 software is incompatible at least for now due to screen shape. VZW should pull this from the market. When I get a Q to try, I am going to sledge hammer the 700w and bring it to my store as a gift (like when my cat brings a half of a chipmunk to our doorstep...)
