Infra-red port?
nickm81 said:...
Does anyone know if this phone will have an infrared port? I didn't see it listed on the specs on Palm's site, but I can't imagine a Palm phone not having one, especially with such a large realtor userbase.

Please pardon my ignorance, but what hardware do realtors use that requires infrared? Key boxes? I'm sure a Bluetooth version exists, or will shortly.
Palm quality issues

Nobody seems to be concerned that palm has had horrible quality issues, weak and overly complicated support website, and lousy customer service on the phone. I don't imagine they will be able to fix whats broken abou

Sprint? are you kidding me?

2) Sprint is the best way to access Verizon's network.
3) Verizon wasted its "special phone" card on the Storm.

Keyboard
Phone????
Sure I can call from contacts but for the numbers I call frequently, dialing is faster. I've had a Treo 650 with touchscreen dialing and the qwerty keyboard. They're both lousy.
Why should I be optimistic about this?
If this is a half baked effort and it doesn't live up to what it is on paper it will fail along with the company probably.
There is a hungry market out there for smartphones, and if they did it right it will be a great seller 😁
But that's just me. 😉

Finally, Palm is coming back with a real phone again. I really loved my Palm 700. But we have been plagued with awful devices such as the mogul, touch, instinct. I was beginning to think sprint did not care what its

What really sets it apart from the iPhone, though, is the slide-out QWERTY keyboard and removable battery. (The keyboard is small but decent; it's based on the Centro's.) Some other competing phones have these feat

Weep, weep for the dear departed Foleo, dead for the Pre's sake!
Palm looks like they really put their energy into an amazing device. And if the new OS works in the real world as well as the reviews are saying, Palm may regain their former place in the PDA marketshare.
So... who thinks Palm will also put out an Android phone?

It's the UT Starcom Treo!
What a stupid name....
I especially appreciate the fact they obviously ganked what works with the iPhone and then tried to improve on what didn't. We'll see how it all works in real life, but rather than just focus on a gimmick (see Blackberry Storm) and spit out some sloppy execution, they're actually bringing some interesting ideas to the table.
Kudos to Palm. Now fix the name.
