Chocolate Fever

Aug 11, 2006 by l.ucas420

The lg-vx8500 overall is a great phone to own, I had the lg-vx8100 before this phone, I have to admit the speaker on this phone for music is not as good as my 8100, but it is bluetooth stereo, and I already bought the lg-hbs_110 lanyard Bluetooth stereo headset for this phone, so i use that instead of the speaker, I have to tell you its worth every penny. Sounds good, no static or tinny sounds, great reception between the headset and the phone, I actually walked away from my phone to answer my door, and still had great reception (btw,,,that was almost 50 ft away!!),yeah it doesn’t have speaker phone, but I don’t ever use speaker phone, why use it when the phone has Bluetooth capability, , , buy a head set for crying out loud, too many penny pinchers out there,,,,anyways great phone, and for all of those skeptical people out there, if you looked at the glass is half full instead of half empty, you might just enjoy life. gosh i hate whiners,,, doesnt speaker phone, wha wha wha !!!"

if i could go back i and do it again, i would buy it again,,i love this alot more thatn my 8100,,,heck u can make any sound and put it on your memory card then send it to your self, and then save it as your ring tone,,,see free ring tones,,i bet you like the phone alot more now huh??!! :-))

allergic?

after using this phone for 15 days, I returned it. that was over a week ago and I'm still waiting for a refund.

pros:
lots of revenue (applies to verizon suits only)

cons:
price doesn't justify performance

mp3 player not loud enough (*with* headphones).

mp3 player not 'elegant' in any way, shape or form.

battery drains quickly.

side keys can be annoying.

In short, it's par for the course; a big corporation taking advantage of peoples' vulnerability for quick, gimmee, technological fixes by releasing a product with flaws, and with the intention of selling "better" phones in the near future (the 'ol dangling carrot scenario). And, it's overpriced.

Magnificent Chocolate!

Highly recommend the VX 8500 aka The Chocolate phone.

Pros:
Super cool design
Great call quality
Nice size
Elegant
Easy to use
Bluetooth
Vcast music

Cons:
Fingerprints...but just wipe it and it looks like nothing happened.

Stay Away!

Pros:
Clear display, nice options

Cons:
Touch screen is not effective, phone goes haywire.

To not sound biased, I will say that when I first got the Chocolate and learned how to navigate through it, it worked great. However, I am a frequent cell phone user, and I often carry my phone in my pocket along with keys, change, etc. These things in your pocket can cause the slightest scratch (a scratch not even visible to the naked eye according to a Verizon tech support associate) that will cause the phone to automatically dial the last person in the recent call list, the first person in the contact list, make the phone continuously cycle through options without ever stopping unless you slide the phone closed, and also keeps the touch screen buttons from working from time to time. Of everyone I know who has had a Chocolate, everyone has had this same issue. The tech support offered to replace my phone with a new Chocolate or a VX8600. I chose the VX8600. I was also told by tech support that the issue that I was having is a very common one.

Well to many people this phone is probably a good phone. But the heat sensor pad is screwy and alot of the times slow instead of going where you want to it goes into another program onto the phone alot of the time bringing me to the internet where i don't want to be. Also the battery isn't as high as they say it is, i would usually have to recharge the battery every night even when I haven't texted or talked to anyone on the phone all day. It is a good phone to some but to me it isn't as good as they make it to be.

Great Phone

I've had my Chocolate for 2 months now and I think it's great!

it took a while to get used to the touch pad, but after configuring the sensitivity, I've got it under control.

I want to mention one thing that most people don't know... it DOES have a speaker phone -- unfortunately you have to activate it for each call. after dialing or answering, you just push the Music button (you may have to push it twice if your buttons "locked" )

Also, I don't text msg and I don't listen to a lot of mp3's -- and I only have to charge my battery once a week.

the bluetooth range is awesome and very clear.

The only thing I dislike about the phone is that you can't plug in regular headphones...

amazing phone by verizon

user interface in number 1, the phone does not have the normal vcast set up, and the touch buttons work great, it only takes like 1 day to get use too. this phone is great for the price

On the lg chocolate, despite the manual. During a call hit the picture button on the left side of the phone. VOILA SPEAKERPHONE!

Good, good, good good, Vibrations?

Dec 12, 2006 by lovelyshortz

I dont think so. I just noticed mine wearing out! I overall like the phone except the bluetooth, but thats with Verizon in general. I have the "cherry chocolate" and love the color and features. But the vibration is wearing out. [...]

PIECE OF CRAP!

Nov 18, 2006 by Jiggatone7

The only thing I like about this phone is the internal attenna. This phone has pretty good reception. NOW I HATE THE TOUCH PAD! This damn phone calls people on its own even if u lean on the damn keys! This phone has made me furious! Whenever you try to do something on it, it does the opposite. WORST PHONE FROM LG I HAVE EVER SEEN! I THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE A SLIDER! BUT I MISS MY FLIP PHONES! I WENT FROM THE GREAT VX-8000 To THIS PIECE OF CRAP! However, I do like the MP 3 player! BUT THEN ANOTHER DOWN FALL IS THE DAMN BATTERY! IT'S THE WORST BATTERY LIFE EVER! IF THE BlUE TOOTH DOESN'T DRAIN IT THE MP3 PLAYER DOES! It won't even last 8 hrs! I go to work and it's dead in 2 hours! The charger port is horrible! It's also where u plug in a corded headset, what a horrible idea the genious that made this phone was! My girlfriend had gotten the VX-9800 V Phone from LG and now I wish I would have gotten that instead! But I guess I will wait for the VX-9900 to come out which is suppose to come out soon. I need to get away from this phone as soon as possible because it is driving me nuts. I can't even talk on it correctly cause its soo small. If u got big fingers you can't even text message right, cause u will hit all the buttons on the keypad! PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE! GO FOR THE 8600 the upgrade from the 8500! It looks way better.
