an average phone

Mar 26, 2006 by Buzznet

i''ve had the phone for 6 months and have used it a lot since i use it is my home phone as well. as you can see from the specs its not a flashy phone, but it does the job. the reception on the phone is fine. the extendable antenna is sometimes great when you''re in a basement and need to get a little more reception, but sometimes a pain when you''re getting it out of your pocket (i''m scared one day i''m going to pull it off). overall it''s just a solid and simple flip phone.

bad audio

I've had many phones over the last ten years and this is the worst I've had. bad reception anywhere where I live (toronto, Canada) and people's voices cut out. The guy at Bell (where I bought it) told me off the record that many people have complained but Samsung is not admitting any problem. I'm taking it back. Four weeks of this hell has been enough. Stay away from this phone if clairity and reception are important to you (they are to me). The various bells and whistles on the phone are fine, but if people can't hear me and I can't hear them then the phone's main purpose (as a phone) has failed and every other feature fails with it. what good is a phone that doesnt' work and makes you look for a land line to use instead?

Samsung A860 poor voice quality

Sep 26, 2005 by jas59

I've had this phone 1/2 a week. I have to return it. Reception, outgoing call quality, various goodies including voice dialing are all good and would lead to a great basic phone unfortunately the quality of the incoming voice is terrible. I can't believe how bad it is and how different it is from other Samsung phones. I tested it with other people and myself, land line to cell, cell to cell and every combination I could think of in areas with great reception. The results were always the same - terrible for incoming voice clarity. It sounds like the person on the other end of the phone is in a cave or underwater. Very, very poor results after a number of careful tests and checks. Stay away from this phone due to the terrible incoming voice quality.

Samsung A860 Poor Audio 2nd Opinion

I got this phone for Christmas. Except for the terrible audio, the phone is quite nice. If you have any hearing problems at all, the phone is unusable. I would recommend against buying this phone until the audio problems are fixed.

*Samsung ... are you listening?*

Hopefully Samsung will come out with a "flash" that fixes this problem. Here's hoping.

Pros:
-easy to navigate the menus
-outside screen
-strong vibrate
-wide ringtone selection
-good reception
-voice recorder

Cons:
-poor battery life!!
-buttons make alot of noise
-screen savers aren't the greatest
-cannot make a recording a ringer
-poor memory for texting (only holds up to 50 messages) >>not that bad really.

Not bad for a first cell phone

Sep 29, 2006 by prairiecrow

This is my first cell phone, and I've had it for a little over a week. On the whole I have to say that I'm pretty satisfied. It has a good range of out-of-the-box ringtones, the menus are easy to navigate, and I like the visual sleekness and simplicity of the unit. Unlike most people who've rated it so far, I've found the sound quality to be good except in very noisy environments.

I'd recommend this call phone as adequate for a first-time user, or someone who has very simple cell phone needs.
