BitPim Transfer--Sorry if this already has been asked!

With data cable in hand, I am hesitant to try BitPim with this phone to transer my ringtones and wallpapers. (No, I do not have a Bluetooth device.) I have heard/read conflicting reports: Verizon has disabled the ability to use BitPim with the 8600, BitPim will not work with the 8600. BitPim will work with the 8600 if I list the phone as an 8500.
So--has anyone used BitPim to transfer to this phone? And . . . ?
(I keep telling myself that if I blow something with it, it is under warranty. Still . . .
Thanks, all! And Happy Thanksgiving!

Download the newest version of Bitpim (0.9.0😎. When you plug in the 8600, Bitpim will try to autodetect the phone. It will say "Other CDMA" on the bottom right of the screen. Go to the EDIT menu, choose SETTINGS, and in the Phone Type dropdown screen, choose LG8500. Bitpim will then communicate with the phone.
I have only added ringers. It works flawlessly. Bitpim has a mp3 editor which allows you to select parts of a mp3 song and use that part as a ringer.

Glad it worked. Bitpim is great. I am suprised that Verizon doesn't buy it and shut it down.

I tried to use my laptop's bluetooth to transfer mp3 ringtones, both with and without bitpim. The closest I came was sending them to the "my sounds" folder without using bitpim. I guess sounds in there can't be set as ringtones?

However, I have access to a usb cable anyways, so I just gave up and now I'm trying that. Did you need a driver to use the cable with bitpim? If so where can I find that? My bitpim isn't auto-detecting anything (0.9.09). Thanks and I miss motorola phone tools.

Thru BitPim can not transfer mp3 (176kb) to my phone.
I used Bluetooth method. Should I be using a adapter?
I hear, Apparently this is the best method to transfer mp3 to phone to use as ringtone
