😳

I was SOO excited about this phone being released, i followed the threads, kept up to date on all the details and salivated over it just like so many other people did.

I have to say, after 4 days with this phone that all of its good qualities dont override some of the concerns I have had about it the past few days.

1. Hinge Quality-- Mediocre at best. Compared to other slim phones like the RAZR, KRZR, Katana, the hinge on this phone feel very weak and i held 6 or 7 different phones and they all had the loose feel when closed.

2. User Interface-- It's an improvement. But it is still the UI that Verizon has dictated for all of its EVDO phones.

3. Size-- While it is certainly slim, the ununsual configuration of the antenna m...

I agree with some of the stuff you are saying, I actually thought it was a good review. I have had my 8600 for 2 days and it has its ups and downs....reception might be the kicker that sends me to another phone. I need really good reception if anyone knows a phone that has it.

The ONLY Verizon phone to get reception inside my house, (3 story house with metal siding and a metal roof) is my friends E815 from Motorola.

You can stil buy one of these direct from Motorla or MINT condition ones on Ebay for around 125.00.

tested the phone in my house (surrounded by hills) where reception is not very good also. Signal strength continuously fluctuates from no bar to 3 bars. The only phone that constantly works for me are Moto phones. So I guess you guys who say reception is very good, i bet all other VZW phones do pretty well too in your area... that is you live close to cell sites..

Hello,

I'm sure that your comments are true and warranted, and your opinion is just as important as mine.

But I have had or tested just about every LG and Moto phone Verizon has and had, I feel this is the very best from Verizon phone for “me” to date.

The deal with the some what loose hinge is only when the phone is closed. That is needed in order for the phone to open and close smoothly.

1. Battery last longer than any phone I've owned. 4 days and still doesn’t need a charge and I have made and received many calls.

2. Both screens are bright and clear.

3. Love the large time and date on the internal screen in digital mode

3. Reception best on the market (upstate NY...Buffalo, Niagara Falls area).

4. I do wish that...

I currently have a moto e815, but I think it is dying. It is doing goofy things as well as dropping calls and getting static. I have updated the pone, both over the air and with a firmware update at the store. I was thinking about getting this phone, but I am really concerned about the reception. I live in southern new jersey. Will the 8600 do the job? Or is there a better phone currently to try...8300, KRAZR?? I am so confused.

i had the e815 and let me tell you that was a great phone, reception was probably the best i ever had in a phone. But i issues with it also dropped calls static. sweaks rattles, then finally the screen broke when i dropped it. but the 8600 has better reception than the krzr and is equal to or better then the 8300.
