Service just stopped...

I am wondering if it is just the phone or a common problem with this model, although I have never seen this issue before...I have had my 8600 for about a month now, and today I had NO service at all no matter where I was, I thought perhaps it was a Verizon issue, but it wasn't, so I turned the phone off and then on again, and it seemed to be working ok again...although for the past week or so, I have been having service issues in places that I never had problems with my previous LG 5200 before...

Has anyone else had this same problem of the service not working, or is it my phone, and I should just exchange it?

Thanks... 😕

I'm suprised I have had this phone for about 3 months and never had that problem. I actually get almost as good of service as the Razr I had before (which by the way was amazing for service). I know that we had recieved a bad "batch" (for lack of better word) of 8600's that we had to send back but that had to do with the MP3 player. If I were you I would go into a store and see if they are having any other problems. I kinda sounds like you have a problem with your phone and they may need to FRU it.

I have this exact same problem, although it only doesn't work at my apartment complex all of a sudden.

It will work fine for a couple weeks then I'll have a few days of no functionality at all at my home.

It's very frustrating.

I should clarify that my phone will work in some places, but not others.

In the places where it doesn't work, the phone still shows full reception.

I agree. Here is the problem I'm having. The phone will sometimes not dial out, it will say calling for 50sec and then say called failed. This happens at least 5 times a week. At the same time if I can not place a call, I also can not recieve a call. It sux b/c i never had this problem with Razr. I'm ready to throw the phone in the garbage and buy a new phone at full price! Any recommendations?

How long have you had the phone? I have had mine only about 6 weeks, I finally got tired of the bad reception, and went to Verizon, not once but twice...they tinkered with the settings for awhile, but then when I asked them how many times I need to come back before they swap out the phone, they agreed to mail me a replacement...I got it today, and even though it is not activated yet, I already notice more reception bars than the other phone...

As for the clarity of my calls, it was pointed out to me by the Verizon Rep that the microphone is the small hole next to the "star" button on the phone, and perhaps I was covering it up without realizing it...

I suggest that you go back to Verizon, explain your problems and have them swap out yo...

I have had mines for about 4 months now and I recently started noticing the same problem you all are describing. The signal on my cell phone just started to flunctuates and all of a sudden will drop the call where-ever I am. I also have to mentioned that I have not dropped it or it doesnt have any water damage or anything, all of a sudden the problem just started. Any other sugestions will be deeeply appreciated.

This is what I posted yesterday...

I DID take my phone back and had it swapped out for another one, and so far, the places that dropped my calls, as well as where the reception was bad, has improved to be as good as my old LG 5200...

As for the clarity problems that I was having, after I was told that the microphone was the TINY hole next to the * (star) key, I was more aware of where my mouth and hand were while talking on the phone...

Hope this helps some people...

Like you, I had my phone over a month before it started to have problems with the reception, take it to Verizon, explain the problem, and they should just swap out the phone...if they tinker with it for a few minutes, and ask you to...

Verizon--for as long as I have been with them(for over 6 years)has NEVER charged a fee for swapping out a bad phone, I can't say the same for other providers ( AT&T, Sprint, etc), but the phone is under warranty for a year, and if it is not working right, it will be swapped out for the same model at no cost to you...if your Verizon store is charging you for a swap out-it is bad customer service, or it has been more than a year...I also found out if the reception problems were not fixed with the new phone, what then? I was told that I would have to go to another phone, (Motorola perhaps) at no cost to me...now THAT is good customer service...and the swap out phone is working just fine now...

I've been getting really crappy on my phone too. I got my first one around Christmas, brought it back at the end of February because I wasn't getting service anywhere my Samsung a950 did. The phone didn't even get service at my local Verizon store so they sent me a replacement one.

The replacement one worked fine for two weeks and now it is starting to get crappy service again!!! 😡

If you are still within the year's warranty, I would take it back to Verizon again, and they should just give you another phone, maybe a motorola, I asked if it stopped getting good reception what then? They told me that they would then just get me another phone model, at no cost to me...I suggest that you try that...

I will be keeping an eye on by swapped out LG for any sign of the problems of before...

I'm having the same issues. Had the phone since November - keeps dropping calls and taking a long time to connect. I called Verizon earlier this week and the sent me a new phone (same model). I activated it and used it most of yesterday - still dropping calls, although did seem to connect better. I called 'customer care' again today and was told that they'd need to send me 3 new devices before they'd be willing to replace with a different model! I'm frustrated!!!!
