Ringtone Question - Sorry if this was already asked...

Happy new year!

I currently have the Samsung SCH-a950 and am able to use a service like Xertones to create a ringtone from an MP3, have it sent to my phone and then save it to use as a ringtone.

I am considering getting the enV and am wondering if this can also be done with this phone. It was *not* able to be done with the LG the V (my sister tried many times unsuccessfully).

I apologize if this has been asked before...I am new to the forum.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Jersey Mom,
Welcome to the forums.
Yes, indeed, the enV can save sounds sent to the phone via SMS (Text/PIX messages). When you receive the message, there will be an option to "save as ringtone".
I understand that Xertones can make ringtones for you, but isn't there a fee involved? I simply create my own personal ringtones on my comp., drop them on my microSD card in the "my_sounds" folder (using a card-reader) and simply send them to myself via SMS, and it doesn't cost a thing. 😁
Hope this helps!

Hey:

Thank you so much for the information (and for the welcome)! Yes, there is a fee with Xertones. 😕 I did not know there were free services when I joined but I DO love the service...it allows you to choose what part of the song you want as your ringtone and is not too expensive. But I believe there is a free service that does the same thing...ahh...live and learn.

Thank you so much again for your response...that was the deciding point on my getting this phone. How do you like it?

All the best,
Jersey Mom

Oh, my. by far the greatest phone I have ever owned. I love having everything I need in one device. Mp3's, Full-length DVD-quality movies and TV shows on the SD card, mobile web, 2.o mp auto-focus camera (can now take videos up to 1-hour) and lots of great-quality games. 😁
LG's are known to be very durable as well. I have owned Samsung's and Moto's and they typically have problems when you repeatedly drop them on concrete, but not with LG's. All my LG's have survived drops and falls, even water damage, with no negative results. In my opinion, they are very solid phones. 😉
