Mobile Identification number in phone info on enV VX-9900
Hello,
I have had my enV phone for a while now. I have noticed something strange. Under settings and tools, Phone info, My Number: The mobile Device # is my cell number. However, the mobile identification number is a totally different number. I tried calling it a few days ago and got someone's answering machine. How can I change this number in my phone? I think Verizon screwed up when they sold it to me. Maybe it was a previous customer who was interested in the phone.
I am going to be getting a USB data cable soon so I can do some hacking into this.
Thanks.
Mike

When numbers are assigned during activation at times the mobile directory number and the mobile identification number can be different. It isn't a bad thing, you do not want to change it in your phone because your service will not work. I don't know the reasoning behind it, but I know that when I have to do a manual programming of a phone I have to check the system to see if the MDN and MIN are different. It isn't a big deal at all, it's just the system. So I wouldn't worry about it. 🙂

that happens if your number was ported from another company. what happens is when somebody calls ur number it dials from ur old network to that number on the verizon network which then contacts ur number.

I work for a cell provider so I understand the MIN and MDN but ive had my number with verizon always and have never ported...any explanation on why MIN and MDN don't match?
