Verizon Chaperone

mpd2434

I purchased my Env 9900 with the purpose to use the Chaperone feature through Verizon to keep a check on my daughter. I called Verizon and the tech stated the Chaperone feature only works with two lower end phones and no others at this time. If that's the case why do they advertise it on most of their phones? Does anyone use this feature?

I have never used it but I see it in the get it now features....you would have to put it on both phones I believe.Thats all I can tell you.

Yeah I agree w/ you as well it's some sort of GPS tracking system which alerts you to wheer the other phone is located. That's all I know it should be in your Get It Now TOols on the Go or something like that but the GPS on both phones has to be enabled in order to use it. Other than that, i've never personally used it myself before though.

All you neeed is two phones on Verizon and a computer. You sign up for Chaperone service online (or over the phone) and have to have a "Parent" device to intall the software on, as well as the "Child" device. 👀
Install the "Chaperone Parent" on one phone and "Chaperone" on the other device. It's in the "Tools on the Go" section of Get It Now. :w...

The rep you talked to is a clown.

If you are just looking to use it as a parent device call customer care again, and TELL them to add the Chaperone Parent feature to your line....

What device are you using for the child phone? its possible thats the one that isnt chaperone child capatable....?

Chaperone(child) is on lots of phones. Originally it was on the Migo then LG3450L, since then it has moved to 8500, 8550, 9900, 8300, 8700, krzr, max ve, slvr, w385, u540, u740 etc etc etc......

Good point cause I to know that the Chaperone is on a lot of todays Verizon's phones. It just tracks where your kid is and i think all you need to do to activate it is download it from both phones' Get ...

not really, close though

First a rep(store or cust care) has to add the Chaperone Parent feature to a device(doesnt even have to be a chaperone capable phone..ie pda... you can just log into website to track where your unruly child/significant other is at)

Then you add the Chaperone Child Feature to child phone $9.99... and for all child phones except the migo/3450L you need to Downloand & install the "chaperone" GIN application... not to be confused with the "chaperone parent" GIN app....Also you will need to enable the location settings on the child phone.

Then you proceed to activate the service online... but w/o a rep adding the feature you can not activate the service.

thats what I thought, however the Verizon tech I spoke to said the only phones that the chaperone feature works on are the migo and the 3450. I specificlly asked him this three times. He put me on hold to verify then came back and stated the same thing. He then stated I could trade my phone in for one of them since it's been under 30 days since I upgraded.

Oh wow . Uh sorry my bad but this is so confusing. Activating something i understand about turning the location on for the GPS but you've got to activate the application in store? Then turn it on in the phone? Is that what I am to understand then?

Ahh....

1. The paid service feature has to be added by a rep
2. Downloand the application on phone
3. Enable the settings on phone to allow said app allow to work.

What are we confused about?

Yeah, like, that was a few days ago. Have you even attempted to talk to a different tech? (one who actually knows) 👀
That might be worth a try. 😈
Because it seems like you still don't believe. 😢

Yeah with certain techs, it's hard to follow what they are saying. Even I'll admit that. I mean, some techs say one things about these phones, then if you go to a completely different store, they'll give you a completely different answer. It's weird.

I'm going to stop in their main store and speak to someone. I just can't beleive they would advertise it with almost every phone they carry and it's only works with two of them.
