Display when closed...

This is a kind of silly question but I want to know...

What does the screen show when you slide the phone shut? Does it just go off? Does it show the time for a little while before it shuts off completely?

I'm very curious and the 8500s at my local verizon are locked to their display. You can't slide them shut.

Thanks!

you can change it but you get a few seconds then it goes black, you can hit a button on the side to get it to pop back on to see the time while closed

saw your review; thanks for your experience

couple more questions:

how strong is the vibrate compared to the 8100?

how good is the voice dialing?

I'm assuming you can operate the phone to receive a call, locate a contact/make call, and use voice dial w/o opening the slider?

thanks in advance

not as strong but still pretty good. Voicedialing much better than the 8100 in my opinion, less steps. You can do everything with the slider closed, except for typing(obviously) The phone is a little weird and takes a bit to get used to but i love it.
