Before I buy a TyTN (not a 8525), does anyone know if I can use my Tmobile SIM card in a TyTN and connect to Tmobile as my carrier without the phone roaming to Cingular? This is a basic carrier connection question, not a 3G question ok.

I put my Tmobile SIM card in an unlocked Motorola V400 and it shows Tmobile as the carrier. I put the SIM in a Razr V3i and it roams to Cingular all of the time--and at high cost to me as a pre-paid user. Motorola says thats because the software in a V3i is set up differently when the phone has come from another country/market. it supports UMTS in multiple frequencies (850 / 1900 / 2100) -- none of which T-Mobile USA has any support for. im not sure what phone you have now but with a 3G device like this, it will more than likely be obsolete once Tmo gets 3G working because it will be on different frequencies. You are better off getting/sticking with an MDA fow.

In my first post, I said this is NOT a 3G question but you answered it as a 3G question anyway. I am very well aware TyTN is useless on Tmobile at this time as to 3G aspects.

My question only deals with the quad-band part of the phone.

I'd like to hear from any TMobile users who are using a TnTn to make phone calls. When you insert the SIM card, what carrier is showing up on the home screen?
