Start so low, you mean the accelerated ring? That's how the CU500 is. It is an accelerated ring. As to the chime whenever you change anything, you can't get rid of that. You can silence it by opening the phone, then using the keys on the side, turn it all the way down. One past "Vibrate all" is "silence all." I put it in silence mode when I'm at work changing around the things I want. Otherwise it is quite annoying to people who work close to me.
