LG data transfer software? Data Suite?

I just got my cu500 after I had been through 3 v3's. I was wondering if there was software for LG phones that can be used for data transfer between your pc and the cu500 similar to the motorola mobile phone tools that I was used to? I've been told that it doesn't exist but I would like verification. Has anyone been able to make their own ringtones and use them via a usb dongle? That is what I planned on doing. Thanks

The CU500 uses MP3 files as ring tones. Make sure they are short, however - probably 30 seconds or less, I haven't tried creating my own.

Once you have prepared the mp3 file on your computer, you can transfer it to the phone using the USB cable with no need for additional software (see pages 34-35 of the manual), or using Bluetooth. It will show up among your Music files, and you can then select it and set it as a ring tone.

Please note that there are reports that external ringtones (even ones purchased from Cingular) are not able to be set as individual ringtones, only as the default one....

You are correct that there is no Data Suite available yet for the CU500. I've posted this similar question on here and in other forums, but everyone replies back that you can add drop mp3 and pics on the mem card, which isn't exactly what you are asking. I too an waiting for a software suite like Motorola Phone Tools, but LG says they won't have anything anytime soon. From what I've read, Datapilot will have software compatible with the CU500 soon. I'm also interested in seeing if Mobiledit will be having software compatible soon, but their reply email to me was a flat "no."

hello, if your only looking to put mp3 ring-tones on your phone, i found software that allows you to cut a clip from any mp3 file on your computer so it will be short enough to use as a ring tone. i haunt gotten the usb cable so I attach the clip I made from the software onto a e mail, and e mail the clip to my phone. from there you just save it to your sounds and use it as your ring tone. I have unlimited texts and multimedia messages so this is completely free for me. the software is called mp3directcut and its also free, and very easy to use.
