Huge problem with earpiece

I love this phone. I think this could be the best phone I have ever owned, save for one fairly large problem...

Every once and a while, I try calling someone and the earpiece simply doesn't work. I will be sitting there thinking it's trying to connect, and the call timer begins to count down, meaning someone is on the other end saying, "HELLO?" Meanwhile they just hear me breathing because I have no idea what's going on.

It just started to happy a couple days ago and I don't understand why. I was wondering if anyone else has had the problem, or if it is just my device that isn't functioning properly. I got the phone from an indirect and this was the only one they had (and still have right now) so exchanging it is out of the questi...

Well I just ordered mine total cost 79 usd from cingular website after rebate good deal. I hope this is not going to be major issue, this is my first lg phone. I see that the reviews so far are pretty good so I assume your phone is faulty. I dont understant why they only have on in stock where you bought yours cause where I live they are in every dealer. Maybe you dont have 3g in your area yet.

3G is in my area. I live in Arizona, and Cingular is not extremely popular here. The dealer I bought it from usually only gets one per location and there are only 2 locations for this particular dealer in town, and they are out of stock. I can't just go to any dealer, obviously.

I have heard people complain about fluctuating volume on howardforums.com. I have not, however, heard of a case like yours where the earpiece simply does not work--meaning you can't hear the other peson, right?

That's correct. Doesn't happen all the time, just every once and a while. I'm just going to have to call warranty.

This happens to me too. However, I don't have the CU500. I have a SLVR. Also, this happens to me when I call my mother who happens to be overseas... So, I'm thinking your problem is not handset related, but network related.

Hmm, it's weird. I've never had the problem before I had the CU500. And I switch my sim into another phone when the problem happens and bam, cured.

Just got my phone in today and I was very happy to see that in my area chicago that is I have 3g signal. Know after a few hours I realized my earpiece is fluctuating for a moment I couldnt hear the person I was talking to complete blank,prior to that the ear piece was in and out during conversation. I think something is terribly wrong here.I HAD THE PHONE FOR 1 DAY AND SEE THIS PROBLEM ALREADY NOT GOOD. I am on 30 day trial with cingular I will ask for another phone tommorow if I continue to have these problems even after the exchange I will just wait for nokias 6126. Its a shame such a nice phone!!!
