Has anyone tried using a 2 gig micro card and does it give you the full 2 gigs? Or is this not possible with this phone? I want to store my TV shows for viewing on the train.

munk3e mentioned in their review here that they are using a 2 gig card. So I'm guessing that's an endorsement! 😁

I think the 2gb should work work with the cu500 b/c if u go to sandisk.com n check under compatible for the 2gb it says it is compatible with the cu320. If it is compatible with an older model it makes no sense that it wouldn't be with the newer model. Also if u check the 1gb compatible it says that it is compatible with the lg cu320 but again no cu500. You can only get the 2gb from verizon stores or ebay.

That makes sense, I agree it should work. And someone here said they have a CU500 with a 2 gig card in it and it works fine.

But I wonder if the speed of the memory is slower than the 512 meg or 1 gig cards, or if that even makes a difference.

Apparently others have bought the 2GB SD-Flash memory card and weren't able to format it correctly. Also see below for a review on Amazon's site:

Buyer Beware!!!! The 2GB MicroSD is NOT Compatible with the LG CU500 from Cingular Wireless. At this time only 1GB MicroSD card is Compatible. LG indicates they are not responsible for firmware updates to make the phone support 2GB. Cingular is taking no responsibilty and has no timeframe for an update. LG indicates all their products including the LG Chocolate from Verizon Wireless only support ...

I have now tried two different brands (corsair & Sandisk)of 2gb microSD cards and have not gotten them to work yet. They are recognized in windows and I have formatted them as FAT. I have a 1gb Sandisk on the way to verify if the phone is the problem or if 2gb simply won't work. I'm hoping it's the phone but will keep everyone posted.

Yep, the 1GB works, but the 2 2GB ones I tried did not...I'm gonna keep one of them in case a future firmware upgrade fixes the issue, but I'm not holding my breath.
