I just got a pair of boxwave 2.5 mm headphones, but when I put them in, the sound only comes out of the right earbud. Another problem is that when I put them in all the way, it calls the last person that I called. Anyone else having simliar problems? Could it have something to do with what type of 2.5 mm headphones I put in? I heard there was something like 3 band vs 4 band headphones?

FWIW, Cingular is selling a "Music pack" which consists of 3-ring jack equipped headphones (the third ring is for the microphone for hands-free talking), and the USB cable for this phone.

Hmmm. I think I figured this out:

3 ring = 3 insulators, 4 conductors
left/right/mic/common = three x "/"

2 ring = 2 insulators, 3 conductors
mono/mic/common = two x "/"

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Where can I find a 3 ring 2.5mm to a 3.5mm stereo jack converter? I would like to play music from my phone to my car stereo, where I don't have any fancy connections other than a belkin FM transmitter.

I see a 2 ring 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter at:

http://www.boxwave.com/products/dualadapter/retracta ... »

But not a 3 ring 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter.

The closest I could find is a possible DIY solution. From this site:

you can combine part 4C25MML (or 4C25MMS) with part CA010, then you can use a 3.5 mm stereo plug directly.

I've never done anything like that myself, so I don't know how hard it is to do...

Thanks! I think I'm going to give this a try.

What is the difference between CA010 and 4CYXJACK? The description is different, but I'm not sure what would be different electrically. I'm going to buy both the CA010 and 4CYXJACK, since they are so cheap.

Stay tuned . . .

The CA010 is a standard 3-circuit stereo jack, while the 4CYXJACK is a 4-circuit jack (for plugs with 3 rings). Since you want to be able to use a regular stereo plug, you'll need to figure out how to get the left and right channels connected to the CA010, and then be able to use any regular 1/8" stereo plug...

If this works, you may be able to start a small enterprise selling these cables 😁

Try calling customer care. My friend got a set of RCA's for his W600 that way, and now he can plug it into anything including his car stereo.

Was the plug for the 8125 4-pin (three rings) or 3-pin (two rings, like regular stereo phones)?

If it is 4-pin, then it could be that there are multiple ways to wire a 4-pin plug (although from what I understand, this is not the case).
