wrote a review for it earlier and updating you guys on it. the delay on taking a picture can be eliminated by turning off the auto focus. the quality of the picture still turns out good. the videos captured on it is noticeably better than my previous phone the e815 and the phones my friends captured videos on.

also, if you are planning to get it and have a transflash/microsd card for it. make sure to put it in all the way. i had to use a pencil to get it to 'snap' but that's cause my fingernails aren't too long. had trouble with this for a few minutes cause my transflash wouldn't snap in.

this phone has a very good feel to it, much better than any phone i've felt before. however, there are probably ones more solidly built. if you have ...

Thanks for the positive input, seul87k. I have a Moto V325 and am looking to update. Since my NE2 is nowhere near, it would be a chunk of cash, and I am waiting until the reviews come in from the users before I make up my mind. I was considering the LG VX-8300, but is does not seem to measure up for various reasons. Keep us informed.

The A990 is a good phone but I have heard the VX8300 is good as well. Many are turning to this phone in response to the outrageous price of the A990.

What I have heard about this phone is about 95% positive. Good LOUD speakers, good reception, fast refresh rate between menus, and good overall feel to the phone.

I've also read something about customizeable interface so you might want to read into that if you dislike verizon's standard UI, which many of us do.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I was trying to decide whether to order the A990 now through VZW online and get it shipped to me, or wait for it to come to the stores and get some real "hands-on" time with it before deciding; I agree with you now that the "hands-on" is the way to go. Do you know if the speaker phone works with the shell closed? I know the 8300 speaker phone will not work with the shell closed. Also, the camera is a major factor for me; the VGA on my Moto V325 is so poor as to be unacceptable.

Yes, the speaker will work closed. You can even access the music with the shell closed. Just hold the play button for a second or two and press it again when prompted (which is right after the initial 1 or 2 seconds). Then, just navigate through using the FF and Rewind buttons to the song of your choice and press the play button once again.
