outside buttons
Is there a way to disable the outside buttons (music?) on the front of this phone? I like the phone, but these buttons are problematic for me.

Thanks. I kinda feared this. Problem solved. Just bought a VX-5300. So far, nice phone. Has BT and tri-mode so and is nice and basic. Perfect features for me.

I'm confused on your choice because the 5300 is not a mp3 player, so that would mean you don't want a phone with a mp3 player right? And if the 8300 has no mp3's loaded on it then the front buttons aren't going to do anything anyway.

When I got the 8300 the 5300 was not available. Yes, you are correct, I don't want an mp3 player on my phone. The "problem" that I had with the front buttons was that I wear a BT headset (all the time) and those buttons were always getting pushed (thanks to my waistline) while the phone was in the case and I would hear tones in my ear all the time. It was just annoying.
A GREAT benefit to the 5300 is that it is tri-mode, which considering I travel, is great!
