Version 3 & Ringtones

CDMA2

Oct 17, 2006, 9:20 PM
I've ordered a LG vx8300 and I know it has version 3, that means I can't play MP3s. Can I still use bit pim to upload mp3 ringtones to the phone?

Thanks.

So does this mean that it is like the chocolate and you just dont have to access each list seperate or are mp3's completely eliminated and not able to play like the 950 was??? thanks

Some of the feedback we've seen suggests the mp3/wma capability is combined into the same player.

I can confirm that there is only one player on this phone (v 3.0), and that it does indeed play both wma and mp3's. It also organizes mp3's just as previous phones and software did, with playlists etc, in the same Verizon software that used to only be able to be accessed with wma's. And unlike previous versions of this media player, you can have long playlists, way more than the 25 song limit in prev versions of this media player software.

I dont' use bitpim, so I can't comment on that. And I've only had the phone with v3 so I can't be sure what's changed, however I know there are two improvements that have been widely covered and they are support for 2 gig card, which I can confirm will work in this phone, and improved bluetooth, which I have not tried yet but have read good things about. Coming from a VX 8100, this phone rocks, best phone I've ever had.

A software upgrade should not remove the ability to use bitpim.

From what we've heard so far there are no drawbacks / lost features with v03, only improvements (again, as I said, "so far").

I agree-no reason why the upgrade would affect Bitpim. I was just mentioning that I personally don't use it, so I couldn't comment on it. I think this phone overall is very good. Just discovered that BT works perfectly with this phone - first phone I've ever had that I can actually make a call with a BT headset (in this case an old H500 I had kicking around), and both my reception and my caller's was great, and no echo. NOw I can see what the hype was about.
