I went into my local verizon store a month ago, after reading about the software update version 2, and both techs told me there is no update out, so I left. Then after reading about update version 3, I decided to try again. so I went in today and the tech told me there is no update yet for the vx8300. I asked him to find out, and he came back and said, "oh ya, there is an update". I asked what the update will do and he said he doesnt know. I asked him what info or features I might lose and he said he doesnt know.
I use my phone for everything, including vznavigator, mp3's and watching video, so I want to get the most out of my phone.
I left that store kinda pissed and called vzw customer service, and spent a half hour on the phone, after w...

Heres the thing with the issue you have described.

The software updates are designed by the engineers at LG and VZW. These people are way removed from the standard loop of people you talk to when you call customer service. They disseminate the upgrades when one is approved for release but there usually isn't a whole bunch of information with it.

You *shouldn't* lose any functionality by doing the upgrade, I do know the upgrade unifies the mp3/wma music functions into one player. I posted about flashing the phone in another recent post.

"after paying close to 700 dollars a month on 7 lines on vzw, and after being with them for close to a decade, you would think I can Speak to tech support."

Good For you and every other person who thinks they are special because the have been "with them for close to a decade" YOU DO NOT GET SPECIAL TREETMENT! deal with it

cellplusmt, I dont think you get it. whether i pay 700 dollars or 59 dollars, no matter what, i should be allowed to speak to tech support for a technical related issue.
And you're not helping here with starting arguments. Dont get nasty. If you dont have advice or helpful feedback, then dont bother.

Nathan,
For both your flash question and flashing your own firmware, check out howardforums.com look in Verizon Forums and then into the LG forum you will find EVERYTHING you need (and some interresting items you can pull off with the right guides)
Hope this helps. I also have told new things to the techs and CS at VZW. If it wasn't the best network in my area, I'd have been gone long ago.
