I have both in my family, my wife has the 8100 which when I upgraded I gave to her. I own the 8300. The reception on both is great here in the metro Atlanta area. The call clarity/quality is very good, I would give the edge to the 8300 based on responses from friends. The 8300 is the clear winner where size and weight is concerned.
