Went on a trip with my 8300

I just returned from a short business trip which had me driving from NJ to MA and back. About 600 miles. For kicks I decided I would check my reception as often as I could along the way. 95% of the time I had the full 8 bars. The rest of the time I had 7. Sometimes it would be 4 Ev-DO and 3 1x. Sometimes the opposite. Even in the hotel I stayed at I had 8. No one can say this phone doesn't have stellar reception. For the price, in my opinion, there is no better phone out there right now. I should mention that this is my second 8300. My first had people saying I sounded garbled or muffled. If you have any problems with yours at all I would recommend swapping it for another. They are all different. If you get a good one like I have now, I'm su...

I should not have to worry about checking out a new phone to see if I have a lemon. Too many of the 8300's are lemons, as anyone reading this forum can figure out. I cannot be bothered with doing LG's field testing for them, that is their responsibility. I will stick with my Motorola for now.

It's just a shame you have to buy a bottom of the line model to get a moto that won't turn to dust before your eyes. Like the Razr , E815 and Q will.

you are correct there, I will not disagree with that. The reason I am spending so much time checking out this Forum is because I want to upgrade to a high end phone, and thought the 8300 might be a good choice. I am just hesitant by all the problems the posters have been having in the RF area. I still might get one, but just hope I don't get burned.

You have to keep in mind that most people that are having problems, look for others that are having the same problems (misery loves company) and thus they end up taking about it in forums. I would bet that the ratio isn't as bad as you would imagine.

Good Point. We never post messeges in forums when we're satisfied, or at least I don't I mean to but somehow I don't find the time like I Would had my phone been malfunctioning....by the way I found the problem with the speakerphone and it was very simple to fix- the keys were too loose and vibrating at high volumes so I just took a screw driver and tightened it up and it sounds great now!

I don't mind reading nesagtive comments - in fact it levels the playing field - but you say the same thing 20 different times. Don't you think by now we understand that you don't like this phone. People (I assume) can think for themselves - they can make a decision on whether the 8300 is right for them. As far as me: I am on my third day (as is my wife) - and I am very critical when using technology - this phone does exactly what I hoped it would - and that is act like a great phone.

Okay, gunny, thanks for the support. I checked with my local VZW store (Gaithersburg, Maryland) today and they do not have any in stock, but as soon as they do I will get one.

You are correct about the poor quality of Motorola phones in general. I have only found one good one on the VZW network, and that is the one I have, the Moto v325...
