Ok so I just got my 8300 tonight (placed the order online yesterday, BOY do they work fast!!) I haven't activated yet. Still a little attached to my 8000 because I get to make my own ringtones with it among other things...hopefully cellcables.com comes out with a data cable and software pretty soon... Just wondering if emailing the cut ringtones to urself was the ONLY way u can "make ur own ringtones" as of now? 🙄

you can make them up to 350kb, that is enough space to have pretty good quality, if you want excellant quality you can turn the bitrate up and cut the song to like 20 seconds to stay under the 350kb cap.

Thanks for the reply. The mp3 i sent to myself via email was 300kb. When I sent it to myself tho, no sound played. So I called verizon, and the rep told me that the 8300 can't receive mp3s via e-mail...HELP!!

yes i am. I send it from my e-mail to mynumber@vzwpix.com and attach the file of course (which is only 300kb) and when it gets to my phone it doesnt play. The verizon rep told me that the 8300 can't do that. Basically these bastards are trying to force me to buy their ringtones!!! I hope cellcables.com comes to the rescue...

quit your complaining.. you just need to figure out how to do it.

Step one.. d/l BitPim. This program can make any mp3 into a cropped ringtone. The 8300 will only allow mid ringtones to be saved from pic message. Now dont get your panties in a bunch just yet. A mid ringtone is still like a mp3 ringer, as far as you can hear the actuall music.

Now that you did that save to file to computer from BitPim and then send it to your phone. ur#@vzwpix.com

We found it that the song quality goes down, the more ringers you send in one email. So I personally just send maximum of 2 ringers as long as they are under the total or 300kb.

Save the sound from your message and there you go.

Once bitpim comes out with a update you wont hav...
