FINALLY GOT A 6133!

Finally picked up my 6133 today! Thanks to a very nice & resourceful T-Mo employee who found out how to special order them! Actually they found out afterwards that they were only supposed to be ordering them for new activations, NOT upgrades (Which I think is horrible for Tmo to give priority to a new customer over a loyal long time customer!) and they won't be able to do any more orders except for new activations. That's just what I was told. Maybe some of you might also get lucky and find someone willing to help. I paid $130 including renewing my contract for 2 years. I also switched to a Myfaves plan.
"Officially" (which over the past month I have found T-Mobile's definition of this word is "Don't hold your breath") the phone is now sup...

Congrats!

I just got my unlocked and unbranded 6126. Amazon.com shipped it right out. I do think the 6133 has one up on appearance, but this 6126 is a nice phone as well. And I didn't have to renew my contract.

Cingular users - no Voice Mail Indicator problems for me. Also got it to sync with my Mac using iSync as well (after a little hacking) and pair with my headset, both via Bluetooth.

So far, very impressed.

jystickman,

It appears I'm going to go the same route as you and get the 6126 via Amazon since I really want a quad band phone and I can't get confirmation that the 6133 TMobile is offering, or will be offering soon, is a quad I figure safer to just go the unlocked route from the start.

A question... Were you able to get insurance for the phone via Cingular when you signed on for service with them even though you did not purchase the phone through them?

As you continue to use your phone please post a detailed review. BTW, I've seen the store model of the 6133 and I don't think it looks than much better in appearance via the 6126.

I have an existing contract with Cingular, but I've also never carried insurance either. I tend to change phones about once a year and any issues I've had with phones have always been within the 1-year warranty. The one time I really had a phone die not under warranty, I just took an old phone out of my drawer and used it until I got something new.

But I am not optimistic Cingular would let you insure the phone. Part of the reasoning is they don't carry it, so they don't have a replacement for it. Afraid I can...

The info printed on the box on my 6133 says it is quad band 850/900/1800/1900.

Only drawback I have found on the phone so far is the time it takes to access the files on the microSD card. I have a 2GB Sandisk card with about 1GB of files on it so far and it is VERY slow opening files on the card, sometimes taking several minutes to open and a couple times locking up completely to where I've had to pull the card back out. I wonder if it would work better with just a 1GB or 512MB card? I read somewhere a long time ago that it was supposed to support up to 2GB cards so that's what I bought.

I'll post more info as I use the phone some more and figure everything out on it. It looks and feels so nice. I'm finding that after having my old Sa...

spirit22 - I haven't had time to write a review for the 6126 I have yet, but catching up on the postings in this forum, I really am becoming convinced this was the way to go. I've not run into any of the restrictions using MP3s, etc. The phone so far seems to be a solid performer and I'm quite happy with it.

I hope to write a review for the phone in the next day or so.

No I haven't been able to do that. I'm not sure why, maybe the bitrate is too high (I use all 320 for my MP3s) or stereo vs mono or maybe just too long? I'll try changing some of those things and see if anything works.

try putting it under 30 seconds and the bitrate under 192 if that does not work it might have to be hacked.

In talking to t-mo tech support, unless you can find a way around it the 6133 can't use mp3s as ringers. It has been locked out. The supported formats are polyphonic, megatones and hifi ringers. 👿

Well that makes sense that T-Mobile would have that locked out so you have to BUY ringers from them at $1.99 each. Hopefully there is a way around that.
