Just got word from a cingular store asst mgr. and it has been confirmed that the phone is cancelled for sure, and it probably won't be reinstated.

I can't hardly believe that when they have allowed Best Buy to advertise it already as a Cingular phone and Cingular already has a rebate out that has this phone listed on it which goes through the end of Sept. Doesn't really make any sense that they would cancel it when it is being advertised.

My local carrier original release date was 8/17.
Delayed until 9/8 due to compatibility issues with our network.

THIS PHONE IS NOT CANCELLED! PER MY NOKIA REP!

I sure hope you/your Nokia rep are correct. This is too good of a phone.

Is your local carrier Cingular or someone else?

We are talking about cancellation for Cingular Wireless, not some mom and pop regional carrier.

Sometimes dealers like LetsTalk will get units to sell locked to regional carriers so they can get the commission and not have to compete with the same phones the carrier sells.

I know we are all disappointed, but it looks like it is not going to come to Cingular, unless a miracle happens.

Nokia is still making the phone. CINGULAR canceled it from their line up.

DAMN! Is anyone with real authority/knowledge able to provide an explanation other than "supply chain management", which doesn't mean much to us lay folk?

To clarify my post....that is the department that handles product development and deployment....basically responsible for what phones are released, the approximate dates they are scheluded, or if they are cancelled....hope this helps
