So CompUSA has an ad that says they're having a labor day promotion where the phone is free this weekend. I'm interested to see what happens when I go to the store.

The ad shows a v3, not a v3i. Idiot!

Compusa is taking orders for the v3i.
FREE with NEW 2 year contract, and upgrade
99.00. with 2 year extension. Expected in mid September???
Lot cheaper than the CINGULAR store.

Went in to the Comp USA in LA today to get a V3i and the first guy tried to sell me a V3, said it was the same phone, then he asked another guy, apparently a manager and he said the ad was wrong and they weren't selling any V3i's period and waked away. Typical of the morons in this city.

Before we publically degrade someone, let's at least get our facts straight.

It is the Motorola v3i!

Weird...

Somehow I got CompUSA to honor this ad mistake. it's a serious YMMV but for a $300+ phone, it's well worth it.

Note: Though I do not yet have the v3i in my possession, I have confirmation that they will put a customer on an order for the v3i @ $0 (just make sure they have the right SKU# 341582) and you might wanna print out a copy of this

If you are a new customer, the phone is free, current cingular customers get it for $99.

Went to the CompUSA in Glendale and took the ad and the correction, and after about 15 min, talking to 3 different guys who looked it up on the computer and called a couple people, they finally had me fill out a prepaid form and said they'd call me when it came in. They got the wrong SKU# the first time so I had them re-do it to make sure I got the right one.

Didn't seem like many if any people tried to take advantage of this offer for the little any of the sales guys seemed to know about it in the 2 different stores I went to.

I had the same experience at a CompUSA in Michigan. Maybe that's one of the reasons why
nobody's going there. They didn't know anything about this phone. I guess you get what you pay for nowadays.
