I don't know who thinks there is a plastic A900. I've never seen one.

They have started making plastic A900's. New batches have been circulated since last week.

When you say that they are making plastic A900, are you talking about the entire phone being made of plastic or just the battery cover? My phone is metal but the cover is plastic. Also, why would they make plastic phones when everyone likes the metal ones?

I heard for signal reason but that could be false. And I think you are correct with the battery cover being plastic. The rest of the phone feels the same (metal) but again I could be wrong.

This whole topic had been covered on www.sprintusers.com forums. I had the "metal" version, and now have the "plastic" version. The ONLY difference is the battery cover. I've confirmed this with Sprint, and with Samsung, and with many other users of this phone. They changed the battery cover to plastic because they found that the bluetooth and reception of the phone work better without the metal. It shouldn't be a big deal! If you get better bluetooth and reception, why not!!

Do you know when they switched over to plastic? I bought my phone at a Sprint store last month and I'm wondering if I got one with a plastic cover (which I would prefer for the better reception.) Is the metal cover iron (something I can check with a magnet) or aluminum?

Thanks

If your ESN starts with 1C then you have plastic. Also you have feel a difference if it's plastic or metal. Take your battery cover off and feel it.

You can just take the battery cover and drop it and if it makes a metal sound, it's metal! 🙂 Sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm serious. You can also bend the plastic one when you try, but the metal one bairly moves when you try and bend it. 🙂
