Poor audio with Bluetooth headset

Raven2K

Dec 18, 2005, 5:15 AM
I have tried several brands of BT headsets with my t809 and experienced the same result with 5 different t809 phones:
- incredible amounts of intermittent static noise unless the phone is within line of sight and arms distance from the headset.

I have not yet found a t809 that at does not present this problem.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Which bluetooth headset are you using b/c I have the h500 and it works perfectly with the 809 even if I walk away. Every once in a while a will receive a little static but it goes away usually very quickly.

Headset model is not the issue..."in this case" tested with:
- Moto h500
- Moto 850
-Plantronics 350
- Jabra 350
- jabra 250 and v250

reps at several of the local direct stores got the same result with the now "6" T809 handsets...extremely bad static noise when not directly in line of sight with headset.

What amazes me is that no one has reported or appears to have experienced this problem. Perhaps my area got a bad batch.

Raven, are you in the NE US area?

I'm considering exchanging the phone because of this problem. It's ridiculous, I put the phone in my LEFT pocket with bluetooth - a lot of static.
I put the phone in my RIGHT pocket (bluetooth HS on right ear) - less static.

Only time I get no static is when i take the phone out and hold it in my RIGHT hand....

Lame

a few coworkers have experienced the same thing as have i. i have more problems with the phone disconnecting immediately after i hit "send" when trying to call. I have to re connect it during the call for my BT to work. It happens with both of my headsets (HS850 and H500)

No, I've had issues w/ my T809 also. I'm on my second one and support kept telling me that the TZones needed 72hrs to fully load from the network onto my phone (don't know how that can be true, but I'm at least waiting), but I had horrible static on my first T809 w/ a Motorola H500 headset. Now w/ just using the T809 itself, people say that they sometimes hear a static or buzzing noise when no one is talking and it's definitely not as clear as any other of my TMobile phones. I'm giving it 2 more days until i call back and either get support to try something else or swap it for another again.

Also, I'm located in Houston, not sure if that might have any relation to your location and this issue.

I have the hs820 and i used it with my v330 now im using it with my t809 works perfectly. no static. But thats all i can say because its the only headset i have ever owned 😕 . To me its the same on both phone. INfact i leave my phone where i get the most signal and i go walking all around the house (same with my v330) and as the v330 it will only static when i go to far--more than 30 feet. but its the same quality of sound. The only problem i had with my t-809 is how the ring of the phone starts low and then it gets high, but it seems that thats how it operates so i can deal. its to much of a great phone for me to take it back

I don't believe anyone was implying that you return your phone. But, on that subject...I believe I should receive the value I pay for.

Bluetooth static and the vulnerability to dust in the screen....these are functional defects that I would not tolorate in a phone at half the price of this one.

ONE REASON WHY YOU MIGHT HAVE TROUBLE WITH STATIC ON YOUR BLUETOOTH HEADSET IS IF YOU HAVE:
A 2.8 GHZ HOUSE PHONE
A WIRELESS ROUTER
WIRELESS HOME THEATHER SYSTEM
OR IF YOU JUST HAVE YOUR HOUSE RUNNING ON A WIRELESS SYSTEM.

IN THIS CASE THE ELECTRONIC WAVES IN THE AIR MAY CUASE STATIC IN THE HEADSET!!!

THIS INFO MAY NOT BE 100% CORRECT BUT ITS A THOUGHT 😕

That would be possible if this only happened in one location that had WiFI and with my V3, but that's not the case. It's only with the T809, anywhere, any headset...on the 6th t809's so far. Just put it in your pants pocket opposite your headset and the fun begins.

If there is a technical reason...it would be an underpowered BT radio to conserve battery life...

This my not be correct either but it is my guess

I already know I will return the phone, just holding on because I like it. Fact is, even if there are units out there that don't have the BT issues, they still have the dust problem. I will just monitor the forums, watch the price drop and wait until they release and improved model of this phone.

Excellent point! As long as you don't handle it like a regular phone, keep it away from air or windy conditions...the dust is not an issue.

Kittkat2, what do you think of using a zip lock bag when it's out of the pouch?

ummm, sorry to tell you this but i have never carryed any of my cell phones in my pocket to me it wasnt such a good idea. They would be either in my purse, in a pouch or on a clip on my belt. So it isnt like im handling it with like its something special or breakable. I think thats why they make things like pouches and cases TO protect your cell phone anyways.

And as far as the blue tooth-- sorry no wind in mine, no static no nothing. clear as day, and thats even when i have my phone out of my pouch đŸ˜ŗ . but i guess i just got the special t809

But seriously to those who do have the bluetooth problem, just take it back before the 14th day . . . . . .I would. I would take my back if i had ANY problems, especially because of the cost.

Here's the thing....
No ones opinion, special handling, or experience is the subject here. Their only relevance is to determine if the problems are uniform or isolated.

The issues are inherent DESIGN FLAWS with the T809:
1. BT Radio/Audio-Not all units appear to have problems.
2. DUST- There IS AN OPENIING between the glass and the screen...ON EVERY UNIT. You won't find this on other phones.

Eventually, dust will impact every display on every device.
To imply otherwise is irresponsible.
