Do not use the wireless sync software. Uninstall it. Delete it. Forget about it. It does not work and is not a palm or windows software, its from verizon.

Use Exchange Active Sync for your exchange server. Open up active sync on the phone and click on menu and add it in there. It does "push" and realtime update if you add your phones email address in (#@vzw3g.com) and soon M$ will have a patch for exchange 2003 server that will not need that.

It works, works good, and its tried and tested with no errors here on several servers.

how do you stop the VZ wireless sync program from running in the background and stop it from loading up in the future?

I'm trying to setup the exchange active sync (all these programs sound the same..gets confusing) the server address is you phone#@vzw3g.com ..user name, password, domain is obvious. Is this correct?

How often will this look for changes to contacts and appointments and how often will it push them up?

you set up EAS normally... but when u check the option to get updates or whatever automatically (i dont have my phone in front of me right now) u enter your phones data email addy. It instantly gets changes and appointments, usually. Microsoft will have a patch for exchange 2003 in a month or so, so that EAS gets updates instantly, without the need for the email address.

About wireless sync... uninstall it. WS makes your pda lock up, freeze, etc.. Its useless software.

Getting rid of wirelesssync from Verizon is horrible advice. This is the only thing that works with exchange. Activesync IS NOT PUSH. You must set intervals for it to communicate with the server. Push means that as soon as there is a change (i.e. new mail, new contact, new appointment) it sends the new info to the phone and vicaversa to the computer from the phone.

Activesync sucks since IT DOES NOT work either via usb to exchange or wirelessly to the phone. Another brillant Microsoft flaw. Who releases a product without the main functionality working? Also, Microsoft's OS on the phone is slow and the phone is always waiting to catch up. Stick with Palm OS for now until they fix all the bugs.
