Manual dialing trouble?

Bristol

Dec 28, 2005, 5:39 PM
I tried out the PPC 6700 in a Sprint store and found the manual dialing (hitting the numbers on the touch screen) to be quite unreliable. I had to move deliberately and not too fast or digits got dropped. Is it my fat fingers or the demo unit or the inevitable consequences of a touch screen?

I ask because Verizon is supposed to have this phone in a week or two, but will also soon have a Treo 700w and a Motorola Q, all of which will run Windows Mobile 5.0. The Q has no WiFi and the Treo will have it only through an SDIO card, while the 6700 has it built-in. The 6700 also has a bigger screen. However, if I can't reliably dial (yes, I do intend to get Voice Command, but still...) then I need to move on to the 700 or the Q.

its not just your fingers...the dialing pad buttons need to be firmly pressed. The Treo's touchscreen pad is slightly larger than the 6700 so there shpuld be no problems there.

I have the 6700, and love it.
