Removing Programs

I just received my MDA (so far so great) and I had an older version of Voice Command (1.01) that I had installed before I found out I could upgrade to the new version (1.50). So I removed the old version off the phone and my PC and reinstalled the new version. But when loading the new version to the phone I get an error saying must remove the old version first. But when I go into Remove Programs, Voice Command is not listed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Make sure it is not installed on your computer. Make sure that it isn't on your device. Then I would make sure your device isn't plugged in to the computer. Then run the 1.01 install then use the 1.5 install. After that is done plug in your device. It should auto install the program for you.

That should work.

Thanks soda for the reply but still no luck. After the program is removed from both machines and the updated version is downloaded to the pc I then connect the mda and start the sync, I get the message (on the mda) that the previous version must be removed. When I go under remove programs (mda), voice command isn't listed. Could a hard reset be my only option? If so will I loose the firmware update I did? I also unlocked this phone, would I have to unlock it again?

I've got to have this program on my device so any help will be much appreciated.

The reset would reset the device. It won't go back to the original firmware if you have updated since that firmware is no longer on the device anywhere. It will only go back to the lastest firmware update you have installed. At this point it may be the only option. I haven't ever have this problem so I am stumped.

You could try to remove it by going into the device when it is sync'ed and browse around to try to find the files and delete them by hand. It may be worth a shot if you really don't want to reset the device.
