IIRC, they need to go in the Windows/Rings folder.

tried that but the tone i placed in the folder you suggested (windows, rings) didn't show up for being available for sms notification...any other thought.

I have had the 8125 for a week now and like but I have noticed that there are tones all over the place! some are available for calendar notifications some for sms, mms and some for ringtones but all tones are not available for all "ringing" functions - whats up with that?

anyone out there know which folders apply to which function or is there a common folders that all notifications (cal, task, incoming call, sms etc..) work off of?

Thanks in advance!

What sort of file are you trying to use? .wav? .mp3? .m4a?

"What type of extension files can set up for
Alarm tone?"

The format is *.wav, and should be located under "\Windows"
So there you go. Make sure it's a .wav file and put it right in the Windows root directory for the device.

For the type of notification you're wanting to change, AFAIK, the only type of file that works is .wav. That's at least what the manual says.

starting to figure it out...looks like you cant keep ringtone's and other tones (sms, remninders, mms etc) in the same folder - widows\rings for ring tones (incoming calls) and \windows for everything else.

be nice to have just one folder for all types of tones no matter the format to stay organized!

someone please correct me if im wrong on this -

No, I think you're right. Ring tones go in the Rings folder. Notification sounds go in the Windows main directory. Seems silly to put the notification sounds there, but that's where they go.
