vibrate setting that will stay

ANiforos

I have a Verizon V3c which I got with their buy one get one free promotion a couple of months ago in Winston-Salem, NC. With my 100.00 credit due, I ended up getting two of them for just the sales tax of about 3.50.

The phone is just OK. I would never get it again. I cannot stand the stupid side buttons which change the volume of the ringer, and even turns off the ringer if you accidentally touch them the wrong way. You have to handle the damn phone as if it has real razor blades sticking out along the edges.....so you don't accidentally touch one of them when opening it.

Is there any way to set the phone to vibrate, and it not change unless you go through the menu to change it??????? I know you can go go, "clear + star" and it w...

Use the side buttons while the phone is closed to set it from "Master Volume" to "Vibrate" ... you should be able to set it to Vibrate without opening the phone, going through the menu, etc.

In response to Ocaydin.........I may not have explained my complaint very well. What I don't like about the phone is that you cannot set the phone to vibrate and have it stay that way until which time I, and only I, decide to manually change it to something else. What happens is that those stupid buttons on the side are way too sensitive and if you accidentally touch one the wrong way when opening the phone, it can accidentally change to ring, or even silent without you knowing it and here you go walking around for several hours with your phone set to silent. This feature or non-feature, is enough in and of itself for me to hate the phone. I have even though of using some epoxy to make the one totally inoperable.

ANiforos, sorry if I misunderstood.

If you hate it that much, why don't you sell yours on eBay and use the money towards a new phone, possibly an LG8100 which I've been hearing very good reviews about.

People are willing to buy your used Razr for at least 200-300 bucks on eBay so that they don't have to extend their own contract with verizon.

He's not asking to get rid of the phone. What I'm getting is if there is a way to change the functionality of those side buttons or lock the phone in vibrate mode because it is constantly changing on him.
He is just like my wife (who has a RAZR) and I (who has the same problem with the side buttons on the E815). We're happy with the device, but if we could get over this one last hurdle, we'd be ecstatic.

So, I'll ask the question nicely: although my wife loves her phone (and does not want to sell it on EBay and purchase an LG phone), she finds that her ring volume is changing accidentally. Is there a way, to keep this wonderful phone from having the volume of the ring changed? For example, is there a way to 'lock' the ring volume or ch...

CLR + * will lock the phone and still allow you to answer it (if you set open to answer option). The lock will prevent any changes from the side buttons and maintain the previous settings. Hope this jelps

Thanks Fletchi18, I'm glad to see there are others bothered by this same side button issue.

And froll, thanks for your input too. As I mentioned in my original question, I was aware that CLR + * would lock the keypad, but thats just two extra unnecessary keystrokes you have to go through each time you want to use the phone. Just seems like a really stupid software issue....could have been an easy fix with just a choice in the menu.

Really what it seems like is that ANiforos is just too lazy to press clr + *. There is no software issue. press those buttons and it locks that side buttons. really what is next, i would like to be able to access VCast with one button but i have to press five buttons to do that. They have to fix that software problem too?

This is all just personal preferences. You should get used to clr + * or just return the phone. This forum is for people with real issues and it should be wasted on stuff like this. I mean really what next. Get over it and stop wasting time on needless post like this. mods remove this waste of space

I've had such good luck getting questions answered by lots of very helpful people......until a couple of jerks decide their questions and comments are more important than others'. I make absolutely no apologies for wanting a quicker way to access my phone without having to go through two extra unneeded steps to use it. If you don't have any constructive comments, keep your thoughts to yourself. You show your immaturaty by acting like that.

Well what you can do is change the "all off", "master volume" and "alarm only" Ring Detail to "Vibrate Only".

Go to Menu -> Tools -> Sound Settings -> Ring Styles and select each "Style" and change them all (one at a time) to Vibrate Only.

At least I think that will work!

Good luck.
