Razr Bluetooth Battery issue

Hey everyone, quick question. Does the bluetooth earpieces really drain your batteries that fast. I just got my Razr about 3 weeks ago and it was fine, but I noticed once I got the Plantronics 510 headset my battery dropped very fast. I had the phone on full charge and after about 45-60 min of talking the battery was completely dead. But I have a friend that has the same phone with the Jabra 250 headset and he said he can talk for about 3 to 4 hours before his phone is dead.

VZW gave me a new battery, and they said that the bluetooth does drain the battery but I dont think it should drain it like that. Should it? Or does it matter which bluetooth headset I get??

thanks in advance

Yeah this is a known issue. The battery life on the v3c is not that great. When you turn bluetooth "on" on the phone, even without talking on the phone, it will utilize your battery.

When you use your headset, it uses some battery life to keep the connection alive between your headset and the v3c. That's why it drains the battery quicker.

I have to charge my phone every night.

Ok does that just affect the V3c? My friend has the T-Mobile version Motorola RAZR V3. And he is the one that can talk for about 3-4 hour before it dies.

The T-Mobile RAZR is different than the v3c because it's using a different technology (gsm vs. cdma) ... it could be that the cdma version of the razr uses up more battery. I'm not too sure about that.

I used to have the Cingular Razr before porting to Verizon and my cingular razr was much better in battery usage. All I know is that my v3c has to be charged every night, whereas the black cingular razr I had didn't have to be.

Make sure you have the .04 software flashed on your phone. My battery life improved significantly after the upgrade.

What version of the firmware are you running? I've had .02, .03 and now .04....04 I get much better battery usage with my Bluetooth headset than the .03 and .04 versions. Hope this helps!

Revision to my reply. .04 gets better battery life than .02 and .03...sorry for the correction.

I'm having battery issues as well. My V3c is with Alltel and I'm lucky to get 24 hours of battery life on standby with maybe 20 minutes of talk time during the day. And this is with my bluetooth turned off. Alltel has sent the phone to be repaired, but so far it's the same as before. I bought my Mom the V3c before I got mine and she loves hers. She charges it each night even though it still shows full charge after a full day of use. I keep hoping they will eventually replace my phone, but so far I'm stuck with the same ole battery problems.
