If I buy an unlocked CDMA RAZr- will Verizon activate it?

Apr 15, 2006, 2:51 AM
I currently have the RAZr v3 from Verizon. Like everyone else, I HATE THE VERIZON USER INTERFACE! I don't want to flash it to ALLTELL cuz I know I'll screw it up.
So if I buy an "unlocked" phone somewhere, will Verizon activate it and can I use it keeping the MOTO interface that I love? (I used to have it with Cingular.) Or will they make me have their stupid software installed?
What do I do?
Also, where is the best place to buy a CDMA unlocked RAZr??? (amazon only seems to have GSM unlocked, and I couldn't find much on ebay.)

Thanks for your help- I'm going crazy here with those stupid red bars!

its goning to be hard to find a razor with thw original moto interface motorola stoppd selling it directly to customers a few days after it was released due to verizon requests , your best bet is to buy another razor on ebay and flash it with the alltel software and use that , if you do get and unlocked razor its gona take alot of talking to tech support over the phone to get it active and authenticated on the vzw network

Thanks for the help! So it looks like I have to either flash my phone (which will not be happening because I don't have all that stuff you need to do it and I'm afraid) or just live with the crappy interface. I don't wanna buy an unlocked phone if Verizon won't activate it...If anyone has any more suggestions I would appreciate it! THANKS!
