Thinking about Razr from 8100

Apr 11, 2006, 11:00 AM
Ive had the LG VX8100 for a couple of days now but the battery life doesnt seem too good.

First: How is the battery life just on a normal user that might use web once a day. And talks maybe 20 minutes?

Second: I heard there was an echo when u talk or its like your talking right next to a brick wall and what you say is amplified?

Third: What exactly did the software update when it went from .02 to .03? When did this come out?

Thanks in advance and i really need a users opinion on these questions and if i should return the 8100 and purchase the RAZR V3c.

I haven't used the 8100, so I can't give an honest opinion on whether or not you should return it. Best thing to do would be to try out the razr for the 15 days vzw gives you.

-Battery life is great for a minimal user. I use mine more than you stated above and have never had a problem (even in a non-evdo area).

-I've never experienced an echo in the phone, but you might be referring to side tone. That is when you have a non-delayed feedback of your own voice in the earpiece. There is more info in this forum on side tone. Some people love this, some hate it. Personally, this alone would be a reason for me to keep the phone. Sounds just like you're talking on a landline. You'd have to try the phone first to see if you like it. ...

What is OBEX and How does an non EVDO mess with the battery life?

Obex stands for Object Exchange. This is just a way to transfer files and calendar information between your computer and your phone. Using your phone in a non-evdo area will drain the battery because the phone will constantly be searching for an evdo signal. There is a ton of information in these forums if you want more info on obex, and if you want to find out how to turn off evdo using a hidden system menu.
