Hearing myself talk while on a call (Verizon Razr)

I just upgraded from a Samsung A650 to a Razr V3c. I love the phone so far.

When I am talking on a call I can hear my voice as if I'm speaking into a small box. Not really an echo sound, but hard to explain.

The callers say I sound fine with no reception problems. Anyone else experience this or am I just getting used to a new handset?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THINKING??? That's the best/only feature that has kept me from giving it back! What do you think all the happy reviewers who keep ranting on this phones sound/call quality are talking about???
"IN-EAR FEEDBACK" FINALLY!! LIKE MY STARTAC HAD. LIKE MY LAND-LINE AT HOME HAS. You guys just got too used to talking on these "Dead" sounding cell phones everyone has been making for the last five-years. No sence of your own voice, don't know if you're speaking too loud, too soft, and can't tell if your call has ended. This phone actualIy IS worth turning off my Land-line... because the call quality IS SO CLOSE. I tried the new Samsung sch-a950. GOD was that bad. That thing was so busy cutting-out all background noise that I coul...

This is what is called "sidetone" in the telecom industry. Hearing your voice is the way cell phones are supposed to work.
This one is designed that way so if you find that objectionable, I'd return it quickly before it gets too late.
Try another phone in the store before you swap it out.

PMFJI,
but, the sidetone IS how phones are supposed to work. The lack of a sidetone (of your voice) actually is a bad thing. Hearing how your voice goes out is good. The other guy/gal who understands this is right on.
As an airline Captain, I ALWAYS monitor how I come across the PA system, and it's a BIG benefit to be able to hear how you sound. How do you know that your voice actually is being heard, and how bad is your background noise,,etc? People have little idea how loud or quiet they are on a phone that has no voice side tone. I have the Samsung 650, which lacks it, and it's a substantial detrement.
When I used a timeport 8767 with a headset the other day, it's like being in a broadcast studio.
This is one reason I'm considering ...

I just exchanged my phone under the 15-day guarantee clause. It's a PERFECT phone. The sound quality is the best and my HS 850 Bluetooth has all it's features available.

I knew something was up with these phones when they said the pink RAZR has no issues. I had them check the boxes and got a RAZR with the freshest date possible on the box.

It has the 03 version software. The time updates fine, the keypad is solid, BT features work, the menu is fast: I love this phone.

I've never wanted an MP3 player or to be able to play X-box quality games on my cell phone. But for a solid, feel good in your hand, quality talk time, fit in your pocket phone, this is it.

I would suggest everyone who is having issues within the 15 day period...

Ron47,

Just to give you some more specifics. My RAZR with the 02 software did not let me push the talk button on my BT and make a voice activated call. The 03 version software does. I originally thought my BT was broke, but not the case.

I am sure there are a lot of other features upgraded that I will probably never know about.

Also, when I was calling around to Verizon Stores for info on the software upgrade I got a different answer at each location. One store told me the 02 was the most current. They are not all on the same page. Be sure to check that date on the UPC code!

I just got the VC3 3 days ago. I have the same echo sound. Any tips on how to improve? also, what does the backlight go completely off after a few mins? Is this to save battery time? Very annoying.

Part of the design, called SideTone.

my question to you is does it happen to everyone you talk to or only a few specific people?

If it is only certain people they could possibly be using a bluetooth headpiece. Ive run into that problem that when I talk to my fiance when my bluetooth headset is on, she says it echos when she talks.

If it does it to everyone, then for sure bring it back and exchange it. that should not be like that.
